Draco's POV

Voldemort's words rang around my head while I was lying in bed in the Slytherin dormitory that night, preventing me from being able to sleep. I had to kill Dumbledore, Albus Dumbledore, the best Hogwarts headteacher in thousands of years and loved by all, well most. As I thought about it, over and over again, my left arm began to sting. I pulled up my sleeve and the Dark Mark was a deep red and writhing once again. I had no idea what it meant. I was studying it and when I touched it, a shock ran through my body. Then the world began to twist around me, like when I apparated, and when it returned to normal, I was in a large dark room. There were people in dark cloaks and silver masks around me, Death Eaters. And at the front was him. As I looked around I recognised the dining room at Malfoy Manor. In the centre of the circle of Death Eaters, was a person, curled up so I couldn't see their face. Then he started to speak.

"Draco you are here, I did not expect you to come tonight. But where is your mask and cloak?"

"I don't have a mask or a cloak." I replied.

"When you address me, you should end your sentences with Dark Lord." He hissed at me, his face contorted with rage.

"Of course, Dark Lord." I replied. His face smoothed. With a flick of his wand my school uniform, which I had forgotten to change out of when I went to bed that night, because I had been so preoccupied with what I had been tasked to do, turned into a black cloak and I felt coolness on my face which told me the silver mask had appeared there, hiding my face. He seemed pleased by me in the Death Eater outfit, a strange grin spreading across his face, then he turned back to the gathering.

"Welcome, my loyal Death Eaters. To what should be a magnificent show." He said, with an evil grin. A whimper came from the person huddled in the centre. "I have here." He paused pointing his wand at the person. "Wait, why don't you introduce yourself. Stand up." There was a whimper. "I thought I said stand up! And I don't like repeating myself." He hissed. "Still nothing okay, then." He raised his wand again, preparing for a spell. "Crucio." There was a blast of red light. The figure shuddered, there was a shrill scream and they unfurled. It was impossible, to tell who it was they were so covered in dirt. It was definitely a woman but that was all I could tell. Her hair was frizzy and clung to her head, in between the dirt it looked ginger. The face was covered in dirt but I could make out green eyes filled with fear and pain, a small nose and a delicate mouth. "Now, stand up." Voldemort hissed. And when she still didn't obey. He waved his wand and she was forced up. She was a little unsteady on her feet and she rocked back and forth before balancing, as if being held up by strings like a marionette. "Now, tell them who you are."

"I'm- "Her voice cracked and broke, it sounded as if she hadn't spoken in weeks. She took a deep breath and tried again but continued on stumbling over her words. "I'm...I'm -My ... name is... -"

"We don't have all day." Voldemort hissed, cutting her off.

"I'm ..... Amanda .... Smith. A... witch- witch, I - I work... at- at the... Ministry. I- I'm an... Auror." She said.

"Good." Voldemort said. When he lowered his wand, she fell back to the floor with a whimper. "This, is Amanda Smith. She is no witch. She is a muggle, a mudblood. Spoiling the wizarding world and the Ministry with her filth. But we shall remove this piece of filth." He turned, his eyes settling on me, I felt like his eyes were boring into me with how harshly he was looking at me. "Now, Draco here is the perfect opportunity for you as a new recruit. I want you to kill Amanda Smith."

"Of course, Dark Lord." I said, raising my wand. This would be the first time I ever uttered those words, those cursed words, those damned words. The words that would curse me, damn me for ever saying them. "Avada Kedavra." I said. A blast of green light shot from my wand and she barely had time to do one last whimper, before the light went from her eyes and she lay flat on the floor, at least she had a painless death that was one small mercy after whatever she had been through. Voldemort smiled in an evil way.

"Good work, Draco." He said, turning away from me towards the rest of the group of Death Eaters. Then he started to speak in Parseltongue and from the corner of the room slithered a big, great snake. It slithered over to the dead girl and as it got closer, I looked down subtly so that nobody would know but I heard the sound as it bit into her. "Go, all of you." He said. And with various pops I knew everyone was apparating away. I apparated to the gates of Hogwarts and as if nothing had just happened, I walked in.
