Hermione's POV

I resisted the urge to look back at Draco as I pushed open the door to the bathroom, I'm sure Draco had his reasons to tell me to go to the bathroom. I stood in the bathroom, unsure of what to do, or when I could leave, because how would Draco tell me? I looked in the mirror, at my bushy brown hair, at my brown eyes and my outfit, I hadn't got changed before leaving so I was just in a pair of medium wash jeans, a graphic t-shirt with flowers on and my favourite cardigan, it was grey, long and loose-fitting. I had my black and white converse on my feet and patterned socks, not what I would normally wear when I left the house, especially for a date but it had been a last minute decision, I hadn't thought about changing. I could use a spell but it wasn't worth it now, everyone in the restaurant had already seen me in this outfit so there was no point. I stood there looking in the mirror for a while. I then had a thought, I could look out the door but I trusted Draco, if he told me to leave, I'm sure he had good reasons behind it. But I couldn't stand in this bathroom all day, I turned towards the door, I could just open it a crack and see if there was anyone still at the table other than Draco. I thought through my options back and forth for a while before settling on the fact I couldn't stay in here for much longer.

I shifted to the door, my hand closed around the handle and I pulled slightly. Looking through the crack between the door and the frame, I scanned the restaurant, looking for our table. I spotted Draco's platinum blonde hair in about the centre of the restaurant, there was no-one else there and he seemed deep in thought. I pulled the door fully open and left the bathroom. As I approached the table, Draco glanced up at me in surprise.

"I was trying to think of how to tell you to come back out." Draco said as I sat back down in my seat.

"Was that the only thing you were thinking about?" I said. "You seemed very deep in thought as I came over." I wanted to ask who had came in to the restaurant but I didn't want to be too direct so I thought I'd approach it slowly. He looked up at me from the table, his eyes seemed to be scrutinising me, as though considering what I was really saying. I hadn't said it yet but he was already on edge.

"It was amongst other things." He said, purposely avoiding my question. Also avoiding my eyes as I looked at him. Then suddenly the waitress appeared holding two plates.

"The lasagna?" She said, Draco lifted his hand. She set it down in front of him. "And the burger." She put the plate down in front of me. I then noticed that the orange juice and water were already set down on the table. "Call me if you need anything, my name is Emma." She said. Then she strutted away across the restaurant. I turned back to Draco when she was on the other side of the restaurant, he still seemed to be avoiding my gaze. I realised quite how hungry it was but before I could eat, I needed an answer.

"Draco," I said, he looked up at me. "Who was it that came in here?" I asked, hoping he would give me an actual answer this time. He finally looked me straight in the eye, but he didn't seem scared or worried, just a bit embarrassed. My unease faded, it can't have been someone bad, if he wasn't worried about them knowing where we were.

"It was my mother, Narcissa." He said, his normally pale cheeks went a slightly rosy colour.

"How did she know where we were?" I said, that was the more worrying part. If she knew where they were, what's to say other people didn't know where we were, people who were slightly more worrying.

"I'm not quite sure, she didn't explicitly say. I think she's been keeping an eye on me, she's worried something is going to happen. I've told her many times not to worry, that I can look after myself but she doesn't seem to listen." He said, looking away from me again. I held in a laugh, it was just his mother being concerned but she did have good reason. He was a Death Eater, working with Voldemort, he was never really safe. Voldemort could turn against him at any time and decide he wanted rid of him, that thought scared Hermione. She hadn't thought of it like that before.

"Her worry isn't exactly misplaced, is it Draco? With the position that you are in right now." I said, making the conversation a lot more sombre. He looked straight at me then, he seemed shocked as though he also hadn't thought of it like that.

"But I can look after myself." He said. "And she needs to learn that, I don't need her help all the time." I could see that he was pretty annoyed about this so I decided to drop it and move onto my next question.

"Was that why she was here?" I asked, Draco laughed. His grey eyes were bright. "Is there something I've missed?" I asked.

"Oh no," He said. "The reason why she came was to say all that again and also she wanted to know how long we'd been dating." He shook his head with a smile as I laughed. I suppose mothers will always act like mothers no matter the situations. I then thought of one last question.

"Wait, if it was your mum, then why did you get me to leave so fast?" I asked, he met my eyes with his gaze.

"I was worried that she wouldn't be alone." He said, simply. I supposed that made sense.

"Oh okay." I said. "Right let's eat then." I looked down at my burger and my stomach growled. I heard Draco chuckling, I shot him a glare, which just made him laugh harder. I picked up my burger and took a bite out of it aggressively, looking at Draco. He had to look away because he was laughing to much and I had to resist the urge the laugh until I swallowed the bite. But I still nearly choked as I couldn't hold the laughter in anymore.
