Hermione's POV

I tried to catch Draco's eye at breakfast for the 5th time this week, but he was looking determinedly away from me in his seat on the opposite side of the Great Hall. He was actually facing towards me today though, most days he had his back turned to the Gryffindor table. I wanted to talk to him, I missed him, I thought we were back together now but maybe I was wrong. The others tried to make me feel better and distract me but it didn't help me, why was he ignoring me? He kept his eyes down on his plate. When he pushed his plate away from him and stood I jumped up, my friends looked at me, shocked by my sudden jump.

"Um, I just remembered I had to go get something from the dormitory. I'll be back soon." I said. I walked down the hall quickly after Draco. I came out of the doors looking to see which way he went and I saw him walking past a tapestry to the right of me, going down towards the Slytherin common room. I knew there was an alcove behind that tapestry so I ran up behind and grabbed his arm, pulling him behind the tapestry, I heard him gasp. But before he could start shouting, I pulled out my wand "Silencio." I turned him around to face me while still holding on to his arm, in case he tried to run. His face was in a grimace of pain when he turned around, maybe I was holding his arm too tight, maybe he had cut his left arm. I pulled my hand away and his face relaxed, but he still seemed on edge, and not as pleased to see me as I expected, well I had hoped. I removed the silencio with a quick counter-charm. And smiled at him. "Hey." I said. I heard a gasp from the hallway as someone walked past, I must have scared the life out of them. "Woops." I pointed my wand at the tapestry "Muffliato." I turned back to him, waiting for him to say something.

"What do you want?" He asked bluntly, his grey eyes as hard as ice chips, the same colour as well. I gasped at his unusual rudeness towards me.

"I wanted to see you. To talk to you. You've been avoiding me for days." I said. His face softened, but only minutely.

"You've seen me and now you've spoken to me, are you happy now?" He asked, trying to move past me. I blocked him with my arm.

"No, I want to tell you something." I replied.

"What is it?" He said, his face creasing with worry. He instantly presumed it was something bad, which was normal considering the current circumstances.

"Willow is a Metamorphmagus." I said, excitedly. His face smoothed as he calmed down again.

"What? Is that it? You had me worried." He said, punching me lightly on my arm. I smiled at him, happy to have got him to calm down.

"Now, what aren't you telling me?" I said, pointing at him and raising my eyebrows. His face hardened and he started to back away. "Stupefy." I said, pointing my wand at him in an instant. He froze, "Tell me," I said."I won't hesitate to hex you until you tell me." His eyes were fearful, but why would Draco Malfoy be scared of hexes, there was something bigger going on here. "Tell me." I repeated, pointing my wand at his chest.

"Pull up my left sleeve." He said, quietly. I grasped the cuff of his sleeve and tugged it up, there on his arm just above his wrist was a jet black Dark Mark. I gasped and let go of the sleeve. I put my hand over my mouth in shock. I definitely understood why he was so scared now. I mumbled "Ennervate.", then before he could say a word or leave himself, I left. I walked as quickly as possible in the opposite direction. I decided to go see Willow so I headed up the stairs to the hospital wing. When I got there it was empty other than Willow, even Madam Pomfrey wasn't there. I went over to her in her little wooden cradle. Asleep she looked her normal self, light brown hair and fair skin. But earlier when she was crying her hair went bright blue. I didn't understand why she was a metamorphmagus but it just made her more cute. If that was possible. I turned and left the hospital wing.

Ginny's POV
I watched Hermione reading a book in the corner. She had been silent since she returned to the common room, I was trying to work but I couldn't concentrate on it with her being unusually quiet. I was worried but Harry and Ron didn't think anything was wrong. It had to be something to do with Draco. There had been no arguments between her and Ron or me or Harry. He could be the only other person that could have this effect. I tried to talk her earlier but she just cut me off and carried on reading. Ron and Harry wouldn't talk to her they were too awkward when it came to relationships and emotions. I turned back to my essay and decided to leave her to her thoughts, maybe it wasn't my place to butt into her business.

Draco's POV
I tried to find Hermione around school all day but I couldn't find her anywhere. She must have been in the Gryffindor common room. So I decided to go back to mine rather than wandering around the castle like a halfwit. As I made my way downstairs I bumped into Snape who stopped me.

"Draco. Come to my office tonight at 7." Then before I could ask why he walked away. So I carried on to my common room.

***

I left the common room and headed for Snape's office like he had asked me too just before 7 o'clock. When I got there, at 7 on the dot, the room had been cleared. He stood in the centre and turned when I entered.

"Draco, perfectly on time." He said. "The Dark Lord has asked me to teach you in duelling, occlumency, legilimency and wandless spells. Let's start with duelling." I stepped back as did he and as we duelled, he taught me some new hexes and spells and techniques to help me improve.

When I left several hours later I was exhausted. Then my dark mark was writhing again but this time it was dark blue. I knew something was wrong so I touched it. The world twisted around me and then I was stood in the dining hall at Malfoy Manor, as I travelled, I had magically changed into my death eater outfit so this time I blended in with the circle of gathered death eaters. In the corner by the door, my mother was sobbing uncontrollably. I considered going over to her then I thought better of it. Voldemort was contorted with rage as he turned to the death eaters.

"Lucius Malfoy has been taken. Taken to Askaban. We need to take over the ministry soon and break our men and women inside Askaban out including one of my most faithful, Bellatrix." He hissed. At the name Bellatrix my mother sobbed harder I knew Bellatrix was her sister and my mother hated her deeply. "Draco you need to kill Dumbledore tomorrow night. If you do not. I will kill you." My mother gasped and I couldn't breathe. Then there was darkness.
