I scramble out fo the car as soon as Hunter turns the car off. I'm not wasting another second in that scream machine! Ha, get it? Monsters Inc? No....okay.
Well...
"Hunter" I whisper and grab onto his arm, hugging it like my life depends on it. I stop walking and Hunter stumbles back a little, turning to face me. "What are you doing?"
"It's scary" I say quietly and Hunter grins. "Oh come on, Barbie, it's not that bad. Tell you what? I'll buy you a nice pink cupcake afterwards, okay?" He suggests and I blush at his baby-talk.
"Whatever. I'm choosing the bakery though!" I smile and Hunter rolls his eyes. "Come." He drags me inside.
When he unlocks the door, I gasp. The walls are covered in graffiti and art. It's beautiful. Filled with such talent. I smile and spin around, consuming all of the pictures with my eyes. "This is amazing!" I shout and it echoes, bouncing around the huge building.
When I turn around to look at the wall behind me, I let out a shrill cream. "What the fuck woman!" Hunter shouts, taking his hands away from his ears once I stop. "That!" I shout and hurry behind Hunter, occasionally peeking over his shoulder to look at the monster. "Is hideous!"
Once Hunter realises what I'm talking about, he bursts out laughing. "God you're gullible. It's a painting." He remarks and I cross my arms. "It's 3D, I got a fright. Besides, it looks like it wants to eat me. How does that not bother you?" I shake my head and stare at the ugly creature.
"Well, for one; I know that paintings can't move. And two; paintings can't eat people. I don't see the problem here." Hunter smiles and I glare at him.
"Shut up. It freaked me out, okay?" I sulk and turn away from him to examine the next wall. Hunter's snickering soon ends and I come to realisation. "There's no pink." I frown and Hunter raises his eyebrow. "Care to explain?" He suggests and I bit in my bottom lip.
"How can a building as big as this not have a single inch of pink?"
"Maybe because this isn't Hello Kitty's playhouse." Hunter shrugs and I sigh in return.
"That's horrible." I scrunch my eyebrows together, ignoring Hunter's comment about Hello Kitty.
"You're taking this way too seriously. Pink doesn't rule the world, Emmerson. There are tons of other inspiring colours, too." He nudges my shoulder and I look up at him.
What does he know about colour? Then it hits me.
"You painted these, didn't you?" I ask and Hunter's eyes grow wide. Strike, I got you out!
"Why else would you bring me to a place like this? And then you tell me about inspiring colours. It only makes sense." I ask him and he looks straight into my eyes. I'm slightly intimidated by his masked stare but I dare not show it.
"Care to explain?" I mock him and he lets out a small smile. "You know Barbie, you're not as blonde as everyone makes you out to be."
I smile at his backhanded compliment. That's a compliment, right? He just didn't want to actually tell me I was clever. Hmmm. Right?
"Thanks?" I say warily and he grins. "Come on. It's time for Plan D." Hunter surprises me by hooking his arm around my waist, guiding me back to his car.
