Zero is the first one to pull away. Still hugging me, he looks at me in confusion, "What was that for?" He asks with a content smile on his face. I beam back, "I owed you a kiss from the piggy back race, remember?"

His smile falters a bit, but he nods and puts me back on the ground again. Realising that I might have hurt his feelings, I put my hands on his shoulders and stand on my tiptoes, peering into his eyes as he turns his head sideways.

"But," I interject, gently using my index finger to tilt his head back my way, "I also wanted to do it."

His eyebrows lift in surprise, "W-what?" He asks, his cheeks turning a little pink. I grin at him, "You heard me, Zeroda. I wanted to kiss you."

His whole face contorts into a giddy expression. "Could you repeat that?" He asks cheekily, causing me to laugh and slap his shoulder, "don't push it." He didn't even call me out for calling him Zeroda, that's so adorable.

"What made you want to kiss me?" He asks, taking my hand and interlocking our fingers.

"I...I don't know, really. I guess I just had to experiment." I say truthfully and he nods and grins, "And because you wanted to try some of my sexy. I'm irresistible." He says in a girly voice and clicks his fingers in the air.

I burst out laughing, where did all of this confidence come from? What happened to that reserved, quiet boy I first met?

Now he's all smiley and loud. I like it.

"This is the longest I've seen you smile for. It's like you're a whole different person from the first time I met you." I comment as we begin to walk through the maze.

He shrugs, "do you want me to stop smiling?" He teases, causing me to giggle, "of course not! It suits your cute little face." I tell him and pinch his cheek lightly. He swats my hand away, "I like being around you. You make me smile, but if you pinch my cheek again..." He warns humorously.

I roll my eyes, "you'll do what? Kiss me? I'd gladly pinch you again, then." I smile smugly when his cheeks pinken.

"No-," He says and I interrupt him, "So you don't want to kiss me?" I frown and Zero's eyes widen in a panic, "No! I didn't mean it like that-,"

"I was just kidding." I laugh at his relieved sigh. "You're impossible." He chuckles and wraps an arm around my shoulder. "No I'm not... But, hypothetically speaking, if I did pinch your cheek, what would you do?" I fist pump the air when I realise that the sentence I just asked him made perfect sense and sounded intelligent at the same time.

He looks at me strangely, "I'd stop smiling." He says with a straight face.

I halt in my steps, causing Zero to stumble back due to our linked hands. He faces me in confusion. "I could probably make you smile." I nod, more to myself than him. He raises a brow, "I can keep a pretty good, straight face-" He reminds me.

"Maaaa" I interrupt him. He looks at me hysterically, "um, Emmerson, what was that?"

"I was being a sheep. I was trying to make you laugh... Didn't really work." I say, "it was a little sheepish, wasn't it?" I exclaim, making a joke.

Zero cracks a small smile but forces it away and avoids my eyes. I try and get him to look at me, by standing on my tip toes and following his gaze around.

"You're going to smile," I tell him and he shakes his head, looking anywhere but at me. "Smile!" I command and put both of my index fingers on his cheeks and push his lips sideways, forcing a smile. He resists and finally cracks a large grin, grabbing my hands away from his cheeks.
