I'm Doomed

(Short chapter because the next one will be quite long and exciting :))

When my mind finally consumes everything, I come to realise that there were many hints to point out that Zara was scheming something.

When I first arrived in the dorm, she warmed up to me like we were old best friends, it was slightly suspicious.

She strategically gave me alcohol at the party, and after Thea pushed me in the pool, she mysteriously disappeared.

When she was on the phone to someone and I entered the dorm room, she ended the call. It seemed strange.

I don't really know how this links to a possible conspiracy but some part of me knows that it's true even if it came out of the mouth of a possible liar.

We're all still at the mall except we've decided to ditch the movie plan. Thea and I are currently talking while sitting in the food court and Brody is going shoe shopping.

"I thought Zara was my friend?" I frown and Thea laughs, flipping her purple hair behind her shoulder, "She's good at being misconceived. They all are. You can't trust them."

"Them? Who is helping Zara?" I plead Thea but she just frowns, "Sorry, but I can't tell you. Zara would know that I told you. She was worried that I'd blurt things out. I tend to do that a lot."

"Then why did you tell me all of this stuff?" I ask curiously.

"Because... I've never had a real friend before. When you stood up for Brandy, it made me realise what I've been missing out on. I want to live a normal life, you know? Be a good teenager for once," she chuckles, "so I presumed that if I went on your side, we'd be friends?" She says in more of question.

I roll my eyes when she incorrectly calls Brody Brandy, "I'd love to be your friend, but you're going to need to gain my trust. You have, after all, been on Zara's side." She smiles at me and I continue, "If Zara isn't your real friend, why did you help her then?"

A sadness dawns over Thea. "Because..."

A few seconds of silence pass and I begin to feel exasperated, "Just spit it out."

"BecauseIlovedher." She says quickly.

I resist the gasp from coming out of my mouth. "You-you're-,"

"Gay? No, I'm Bi." She laughs at my shock.

This is getting freaky. I've met more gay people in the past week than I have in my entire life. Is that unusual?

"I don't understand? If you love her, then why are you betraying her by telling me all of these things?" I ask and she shoots me a glare, "I'm not betraying her, I'm doing what's right. You should have listened, I said I loved, not love. Totally different. She knew that I was in love with her, but she didn't care. I started to realise that she was neglecting me, treading over my heart for her benefit. Zara doesn't deserve me; I've just started to realise that."

"Oh," I say stupidly. Well, what would you say? After someone confesses their old undying love for someone of the same gender, it's a little awkward.

"So what do we do?" I question seriously and Thea shrugs and looks around the mall for inspiration. "Pretend I never told you. Get on with what you're doing in Everex College, change dorms. Stay away from all of Zara's friends. It's easier this way. I mean, there's not much we can do."

I gasp, "What do you mean? So I just have to act casual and pretend that Zara isn't trying to sabotage my life because she's mental? For all I know, she'll probably assassinate me in my sleep! It'll be like a replay of the movie The Conjuring or Cassie. Oh fuck. I'm doomed." I shriek in anxiety and Thea slams her hands on the table, "Shut up, would you! She isn't going to assassinate you- she's too smart- she'll probably hire someone to assassinate you-,"

I squirm in horror, causing Thea to grin mischievously, "Just kidding. I don't think she's that mental. Besides, if she did plan something like that, Id be the first to know. I'll protect you."

Protect me?

"I don't need protection!"

"Oh trust me, you don't want babies everywhere, protection is one hundred percent safe. I guarantee it."

I shriek again and cover my ears in disgust, "Not that protection!"

Thea bursts out laughing.

But I mean... My babies would be pretty cute, especially if Hunter is the father. My face falls into an unattractive frown as I think about him.

I really, really miss him. Maybe if Hunter was here, he'd be able to give me advice? He usually is the one to direct me into the right way. For gods sake, he even tried to convince me to choose ballet instead of him. I might like ballet, but I love Hunter. Everything that's happened... I couldn't have gone through it without my Hunter with me. He is my saviour. I still remember his torn, heartless face after he saw his empty warehouse. It was like his heart was ripped from his chest and shredded into a gazillion pieces, then burned and then cremated and then a shark ate the ashes.

"Emmerson? Are you okay?" Thea asks me, a frown etched onto her own, pale face. I snap out of my trance and force a smile, "Yeah. So um... I just need to act normally and pretend you didn't tell me? Why?" I question, changing the subject. Thea raises an eyebrow but doesn't interrogate me (thankfully). "Oh trust me, she hasn't pulled all of her guns out yet. If she knows that you know of her plan, she'll shoot you down with her bare hands."

I frown, "She'll shoot me down with her bare hands...?"

Thea rolls her eyes, "You know what I mean. She'll bring you down with all she's got. You honestly don't need that. Especially with all this drama that's happening now, anyway." She says sympathetically and I nod.

I guess I have had a lot of drama these few days, huh?
