HUNTERS POV (SORRY, I HAD TO WRITE THIS IN HIS POV. THIS CHAPTER IS SO IMPORTANT)
"You know, sooner or later your face is going to stay like that if you don't stop glaring at the ground like it's Hitler's grave. Dude, just chill out. It's our night out." Quinton whines and Autumn nods along side him, eyes locked on the screen of COD. I sigh exasperatededly, I just can't stop thinking about her.
And that fucking douche, Zero... Sooner or later I'll have my hands wrapped around his throat if he doesn't stop touching her. So many thoughts consume my mind, all jumbling around in a havoc. I have so many unanswered questions-, "Dude, you don't have laser eyes, alright? Stop staring at floor, nothing is going to happen; Ive already tried." Autumn huffs, pressing Quit on the PlayStation game.
He pulls me out of my trance, "What's got you so worked up anyway?"
I roll my eyes, "You know who." Quinton and Autumn nod in realisation, "Emmerson," they synchronise.
"Just forget about her, man. You can find some other chick-," I give Quinton my toughest glare, "Forget? How the fuck do you suppose I forget? She left to New York for two or three weeks and came back with a fucking Abercrombie and Fitch wannabe as her boyfriend. She's literally cheating on me. How am I supposed to forget the fact that our relationship meant something to me and nothing to her? She's like a fucking barbie doll, always playing around. I hate that bitch!" I viciously shout, slamming my fist on the wooden coffee table in front of me. Quinton visibly gulps, but keeps quiet.
Nobody likes to confront an angry Hunter, but trust me, this is far from angry.
Autumn toughens up, awkwardly coughs and states, "I don't mean to sound like a dick, Hunter, but wasn't your relationship a deal? You know, the blackmail thing? This is gonna sound so cold, but don't you think you had it coming? Falling for someone who forced you into a relationship, for her benefit? Of course she was going to drop you, that was the plan; as soon as her status dropped, she'd let you go, right?"
A rage bubbles inside of me, but I force myself to push it down.
Of course she was going to drop you, that was the plan; as soon as her status dropped, she'd let you go, right?
Pain stabs through my heart as I realise what he means. Did her status really drop? Well, everybody did turn their backs on her and back stabbed her, too...
I sigh in frustration and tousle my hands through my hair uncomfortably. I hate feeling this way; still wanting her back.
I mean, being rude to her hasn't helped me out much, but how am I supposed to react? I can't let her know that I have feelings for her, she'll use it against me or something. I'll be the weaker person, and I don't like that idea at all. The only way I can react is by showing her hate or no emotions to make her think I don't like her.
I just wish she'd come back to her senses and tell me that she likes me, too. It would make everything so much easier.
"Alright, that's it! I hate it when you're quiet, it's scary, so we need to do something to get your mind off of her." Quinton suggests, raising from his seat and clapping his hands in declaration.
"How about we do something fun?" He offers, causing me to roll my eyes in distaste. Autumn frowns, "This is fun. I'm losing against twelve year old kid from Mexico in COD." He sarcastically laughs and continuously clicks buttons around on his controller. "FUCK IT! Not again! This kid cannot be twelve, he's probably some pedo fifty-year old. He's beaten me eighteen times!" Autumn shouts, slamming his controller on the couch aggressively and strutting to the console, slamming the Power button down.
"Alrighty, a party it is!" Quinton beams his one hundred watt smile, it nearly makes me want to spew.
--
The house is packed with sweaty bodies and underaged pupils drinking from cheap plastic cups. It already makes me want to go home and I've only been here for four minutes.
"Chillax, man. Just... Get a drink and do whatever you want. Heck, find a chick or do something other that standing in one place and looking around. It's starting to make you look like a Pedo." Autumn chuckles and slaps my shoulder. I sigh and walk towards the kitchen and grab a red cup. Looking around the clear juices, I decide on strong vodka and quickly poor it in my cup and then down it. It burns the back of my throat, making me want to gag it back up, but I force it down. I repeat the action four times and wait for the buzz to counteract.
When warmth consumes my body and my vision gets a little fuzzy, I make my way through the crowd, enjoying the empty feeling in my mind. Bodies hurl around me, dancing and grinding everywhere, it makes me slightly uncomfortable but when the alcohol completely kicks in, I dance my heart out. Two small tanned arms wrap around my body and is pushed against mine. Curisously, I spin around to face the girl with a smirk on my face. My seductive smile drops when I come face to face with her abnormally blue eyes and dark skin.
"Hey there, mister." She grins flirtatiously and wraps her arms around my neck, still dancing to the upbeat rythm. "Hey," I reply in a monotone and absentmindedly dance against her. "What's wrong, Hunter? Loosen up baby." I frown, not really sure what to do because I see three Sapphire's dancing in front of me. I blink a few times and then squint at her, adjusting my vision until I can finally only see one of her. My frown deepens a little, "I shouldn't be dancing with you. Emmerson-," I abruptly stop myself from carrying that sentence on. Sapphire smirks, "Is a bitch. Oh come on, Hunter, don't be a killjoy and party with me like you used to before she wrecked everyone's lives. You only live once, right?" I fucking hate that overused, mainstream quote but shrug in contemplation. "You used to be so much more fun; you were so nonchalant and uncaring. I loved that about you, it made you seem like a bad boy. But then she drained everyone's happiness and stole you from our group." Sapphire scowls, revisiting the memories. "I was never in your group. I only hung around you guys because Quinton and Olivia started dating." I state like its the most obvious thing ever. Sapphire beams in satisfactory, "There he is. There's that attitude I love. You know, you should hang with me at lunch. It gets a little lonely." She exclaims, emphasising the lonely bit, although I can't really tell what she's implying because my thoughts are contorted into a misunderstanding, rather like a dispersed jigsaw puzzle.
I scrunch my nose up in distaste, "Why would I hang around attention vultures like you and Candace?" I insult her, causing Sapphire's sinister smile to grow in pleasure of my endorsing 'bad boy' demeanour. I don't feel like a bad boy, I feel like a rude Hunter.
She purses her lips and runs her fingers up my chest, "To show Emmerson what's she's missing out on." I frown in confusion, yet again and ask, "What do you mean?"
"I mean, let's get our revenge on Emmerson." She suggests, hopefully. My eyebrows raise, "What makes you think I'm just going to backstab her like that?" I question curiously.
"Well," Sapphire begins, almost sadistically, "when I called her a bitch -twice- you didn't defend her like you always do. And I've noticed that you don't like to say Emmerson's name."
I blink, caught in a redhanded act but don't reply. Sapphire laughs, "Oh Hunter, you are so inevitable when you're drunk. It reminds me of the good old times. So are you in?" She questions. I squint at her, "Why do you want revenge on Emmerson so badly?" My question catches her off guard, not expecting a drunk like myself to ask something like that. She clearly underestimates my alcohol tolerance level. "Let's just say she did something that I Really didn't like, so I've thought of a brilliant plan."
I bite my lip, "What plan?"
Sapphire grins again, "You and me." She states suggestively, raising her eyebrows twice, "Imagine the havoc we could make, Hunter. She'd hate it, for sure."
