(Not as long as the last chapter, only three and a half pages... Just realised i reached 71 chapters :) Anyway! I did a SUPER DUPER early update for my friend's benefit... You're welcome! Happy birthday, Happy Easter and Merry Christmas *-* Thank you for reading and putting up with my horrific typos <3

"Alright then... I'll leave you two to talk for a while. I'll be waiting outside with Zero." Jasper informs me with a small, hesitant smile. I send my brother a look that screams, 'Don't leave me here alone with him,' but he either seems to ignore it or doesn't notice it.

I'm kind of a little relieved that I can talk to Hunter without my boyfriend having to feel the same tension as I’m about to... But I'm also anxious. It's been weeks since I last left and spoke to Hunter.

When everyone leaves the room, including Beaula, Hunter stares back at me with a mesmerized gaze.

I blush and look away from him, "Why do you keep looking at me like that?" I ask softly, staring at the ground timidly.

He seems to snap out of his trance, because he blinks a couple times before admitting, "I guess I just forgot how beautiful you were- I mean, I know you're beautiful, but those were just thoughts and-," Hunter rambles, causing me to chuckle nervously, "It's alright. Thanks."

Silence fills the room again. It never used to be this awkward.

"You did really well, by the way. I really think you'll win this case." Hunter compliments me with a supportive, lazy smile, making my heart melt on the spot. God I've missed his smile.

"I couldn't have done it without you. You literally saved me." I say and then inwardly grimace at how corny that sounds. It’s true though; without him objecting, I reckon the Maxter (Max and Monster combined) would have left the courtroom without charge.

Even though I still have feelings for Hunter, I really shouldn't be feeling like this. I should be angry at him; he was the one who cursed me out and literally snapped my heart in pieces. And now he's acting like we're long lost buddies?

"I should get going." I say firmly, beginning to walk towards the door. Just before I can pass Hunter's aisle and progress to the exit, he steps in front of me saying, "Please don't go. Not again." He pleas desperately, clinging onto my wrist.

And it's just like old times.

Those times I fled to New York to get away from everything, including Hunter. Where he begged me to go back with him… I should have learned. Yet here I am again. Letting him make me feel guilty about leaving him behind.

I awkwardly cough and tug my wrist away from his grasp, "I really have to go."

"Emmerson, I haven't seen you in weeks. Can we at least talk? Just for five minutes?" Hunter begs me with his damned, beautiful eyes.

I take a few seconds to debate whether I should spare him my time, but I already know the answer.

I sigh and give in, "You have four minutes and forty-seven seconds left."

His shoulders slump in relief and he offers me a small smile, "How have you been?" He asks distractedly, but I know that that's not what he wants to talk about.

"I've been great, actually." I lie, masking the hurt that he caused me. Apart from our break up though, I actually had a lot of fun with Thea, Brody and Zero. His eyes brows crease together in uncertainty, "You've been great?" He asks in confusion and surprise.
