Amy's Point of View:

Just like eating at the pancake house, Family dinners and holidays are always a hit or a miss situation. I just hope that since the pancake house was a hit, this family dinner isn't going to be a miss. Every time family comes over to eat my mom makes sure the house is in perfect order, Nothing out of place and kinda smelling like a bottle of air freshener exploded. We're all seated at the table, An aery of different foods set on our plates in front of us with conversation going around. "So Amy, How did you and Mark meet?" One of my aunts sips at her red wine as she asks me. Oh the question I knew was going to come our way eventually, I just wish I hadn't stuffed a forkful of mash potatoes in my mouth before. "We met at a convention actually" I cover my mouth as I talk and try to swallow my potatoes "A few months later he called and offered me a job and I moved out to L.A. to help him and I guess the rest is not needed to be said" I shrug my shoulders and look over to Mark for a moment before smiling and stuffing my face with more mash potatoes.

"Oh you didn't have to get me anything" Mark holds his gift in his hands "This is so unexpected" He looks up to my uncle who just sat back in his chair. "Don't be silly, Mike" He shakes his head before I correct him "Mark" He points to him and they both laugh. Mark looks at the square shaped box covered in red and white paper "Thank you" Mark nods towards him. "Don't thank me" Uncle laughs again "Dealing with Nelson women are harder than you think" Mark laughs at his remark before nodding once more towards him and beginning to rip at the paper. With the Nelson clan, Not a moment falls quiet even if no one has anything else to talk about. You're either making fun of another family member or giving not so subtle hints about gifts or even better talking about family drama. Always something. "A new wallet" Mark grabs it from the tiny old bean box and smiles at my uncle. I look over to both of them, Pretty sure my family got Mark better gifts then I got. "Every young man needs one" My uncle shrugs "Why not" He smiles through his pale pink lips and his wrinkly cheeks. "Thank you sir" Mark smiles back at him before throwing his trash in the designated spot. "Treat her well" Uncle says as the smile begins to fall of his face. Mark looks to me as he sets the trash in the bag and walks back over before setting on the ground beside me "You won't have to worry about that sir" He takes my hand and holds it, Causing my cheeks to quickly go back to their rosy tint.

"Well" My mom sets her rag back to the middle of the sink before turning to us "I think that was a successful night if I do say so myself" She smiles as she wipes her hands down her apron. "I would say the same" I smile and close the pantry door after putting a new trash bag in "No one hit anyones cars or got in any arguments" I shrug before both Mark and my mother turn to my with their eyebrows raised "Ok any huge arguments" I roll my eyes slightly before laughing. Mark walks over to me and stands beside me next to the wall "Thank you so much for inviting me into your home for the holiday, Mrs Nelson" Mark smiles "It was very though full of you" He finishes and mom walks over to him and engulfs him into a hug and after a few seconds pulling back and pointing a finger to me "Keep him" She points her finger and smiles. I feel the familiar rosy tint reappearing back to my cheeks and pull a few pieces of hair behind my ear "Don't worry about that one mom" I smile before laughing a little. I see mom smile again and soon hug my tight just like she did with Mark "I love you little bit" She says as she pulls back but still holds me. I watch her as she studies me for a moment before letting fully go "I love you too mom" I smile and she takes a step closer to me as she smoothes my hair. She studies me again "Goodnight kiddos" She begins to walk away and towards her bedroom, Leaving all of us smiling to ourselves at the great night we've had.

Mark and I have gotten getting ready for bed in my bedroom down to a science, Which you kinda have to considering it's so small and you would run into the other if you didn't have it down to a science. I lay myself in my bed and cuddle up to the blankets surrounding me when I notice Mark standing beside his suitcase suspiciously, Causing me to set up and continue to watch him "What are you doing Mark" I raise my eyebrow and his face becomes as red as mine has been all night. "Oh you know" He shrugs it off "Getting ready for bed" He smiles and I point my finger at the bed telling him to come here. "Ok so heres the story"He huffs and crosses his legs to face me. I hold up my finger again "Is this going to make me hate you for the rest of the night?" I whine and he laughs. "No" He runs his fingers through his bangs "I think you'll enjoy it" He smiles at me and I smile back. "I went to a jewelry store trying to find you something that fits your personality and you'll love but I couldn't find anything" He takes a pause and watches my face to make sure I don't hate him yet "I gave up and went to the thrift store across the street to calm myself down because I got a little overly upset I couldn't find what I envisioned" He takes another break and sets an old beat up ring box in front of me on the bed "In the very back of the store on a crappy little table under a whole bunch of goddy jewelry I found this" I look up to him before looking back to the box and not opening it "You can open it Amy" He laughs and I move my hands towards the box and pop the top open revealing a dainty silver ring with a singer tiny diamond placed in the middle, Nothing surrounding it or anything. I slip the ring on my pointer finger and then take my eyes up to Mark, His face filled with worry but soon released when I lung myself up to hug him "I love you" I can't keep my smile away. He pulls back and smiles just a widely as me "I love you too" He holds my hands and squeezes slightly as he does so. I begin to hop off the side of my bed and over to my suitcase when he stops me "But don't you want your gift?" I worry he already found it and knows what it is and that it can't beat his. He pulls me back into the bed and holds me close to him "In the morning" He kisses my head and begins to get comfortable. I think to myself about how amazing this trip has been, How amazing he has been, and how I can't think of a christmas I was any happier.

Holy shit it feels like forever since I've written and I'm so happy to be back at it. Today was my best friends birthday and I went over to her house to surprise her so thats why the chapter is being posted so late. It's up now though and personally, It's one of my favorites.
