Amy's Point of View:

All growing up my mom never woke my brother or I on any special holiday but allowed us to wake up on our own and once we did she was usually awake and waiting. Thats one of the main things I always remember when growing up but I'm not sure why it means so much to me. Nothing has changed since I've grown up and moved out I realize as I lay here with my eyes closed, not quite wanting to get up yet. I lay on the cool sheets in the warm room cuddled against my blankets, Mark moved at some point in the night so I took matters into my own hands. The house is quiet but the old stillness makes a few creaks here and there which you end up getting used to and don't think it's a ghost anymore. The familiar fingers begin to dance up and down my back making me smile to myself and cuddle more into the warm blankets. I continue to lay for a few more minutes before rolling over to face Mark "Merry Christmas" I whisper, Smiling as I say the words. He smiles when he see's my smile "Merry Christmas, Amy" He pecks my lips, His stubble scratching against my skin from not shaving for the trip. I close my eyes once again before feeling Mark peck my forehead and his side of my bed becoming empty "Where are you going?" I set up on my elbow and follow him as he walks to my bathroom. He stops for a second and smiles towards me "Bathroom" He says "I'll meet you out for breakfast" He continues to walk and closes the bathroom door behind him. For a moment I fall back against the cool sheets but quickly pull myself back up off the bed, Hoping my mom still has her recipe for her special christmas breakfast.

"Amy" My mom continues to let the tap fall into the empty sink as she sets the rag down "That ring is absolutely beautiful" I look up to her as my worried expression falls. Usually when she stops like that in the middle of something it means I'm in trouble. "Mark gave it to me for Christmas" I hold my hand out and let it fall into hers so she can see it better "He went to an expensive store but couldn't find anything so he found it in a thrift shop" I laugh and watch her reaction as she studies it. She pats my hand with hers before letting it go "Amy he's so good for you" She shuts the tap off and gets two plates from the cabinet "You're good for him" She laughs and turns back to face me, I try to hide my smile as I sip at my coffee "I've never seen two people more happy" She turns back around so I can't see her but I can only imagine the huge smile. "Ok mom you're making me feel like I'm in a corny movie" I laugh and so does she. "Okay okay" She continues "Just please keep him, He's so good" I simply nod my head towards her. The room falls quiet for a moment or two before I hear Marks heavy footsteps enter the kitchen "What are we keeping?" He questions, My mom looks to the counter unable to hide her smile. "Nothing you need to worry about" I set up and peck his lips before setting back down, Smiling to myself as I think of our last conversation.

Another family tradition is after breakfast we all gather into the living room and watch 'How the Grinch Stole christmas' and then after that we open presents to each other. Usually my brother is here with us but he said he would be here later, Though he's said that the whole time we've been here and that has fallen through every time. I set in the corner of the couch as The Grinch prepares for his taking of the presents when my phone vibrates against the fabric. I leave it for a second but soon pick it up after slight curiosity.

Eve: Merry Christmas! I hope you and Mark and you're family are having a great holiday. Tyler, Blair and I are doing great and having a great first Christmas with Blair. Just wanted to check in and make sure you guys are having a good time, I love you guys!

A simple picture of all of them playing at the park is attached and I smile as I look at it. I'm having so much fun here with my family but I do miss Eve, Blair, Tyler, Ethan and Kathryn. I reply quickly but put my phone back to the fabric on the couch, Trying to enjoy my last day with my mom.

"Amy" A soft voice stretches my name out "Amy wake up" I open my eyes slowly and see my mom standing over me. "Why do I have to wake up?" I question as I hear the door squeak open. My eyes bulge and I hop off the couch and run to the front door "Bubba!" I yell as I jump up onto him. I hear his bags drop to the floor as he wraps his arms around me "Hey little bit" He laughs as I drop on my feet "Wheres this boy I've heard so much about?" He pops his eyebrow and follows me to the living room. "Good to meet you" Mark smiles and holds out his hand for Bubba to shake it. They smile at one another before we all set on the couch as the excitement settles. "Good to see you son" Mom pats his shoulder as he passes behind him and he looks back to smile at her. I'm so happy to have my family all together.

"Mom I already have everything I want" I look up to her as she walks back to the couch. She sets herself down on the couch and watches me "Are you done pretending you don't want it?" She asks smiling, Making my body sit up straight again and nod my head. I rip through the familiar red and white paper soon revealing a red piece of fabric. As I hold it out more and it unfolds in front of me I see that it has a straight across neck line and is straight all the way down, A dress that she had pressed. "Thank you mama" I lay it across the box and run up to hug her tightly. She doesn't reply but smoothes my hair down and squeezes me just as tightly, Holding me for a few seconds before letting me go and I set back down on the place on the floor. "Mark this ones for you" Bubba walks over to a surprised looking Mark. "Your family is just full of surprises" Mark says as he turns to me. I nod my head and pat his shoulder "You have no idea" I smile and he smiles back. I watch as he opens the gift and holds a new game, The game he's been begging me to get for him for awhile now "Damn way to out girlfriend me" I laugh as I look up at my brother. I watch as he shrugs "Figured he could block you out with it" He laughs back and shakes his head. Yep, Nothing has changed.

Last night in my kid bedroom for this trip, Kinda sad when I think about it like that. I place my toothbrush back into the holder and walk back into the bedroom, Watching Mark as he walks around the room getting his things together. He catches me looking when he walks to my bed and smiles "What are you looking at?" He questions setting on the side of the bed. I shrug and walk over, Dropping my makeup bag into my suitcase as I walk passed it "Just looking" I set on my side before laying down and taking in everything I can "I'm going to miss this" I sigh and stare at the ceiling. I feel Mark lay down on his side "Miss what" He questions without pressing too hard. "Us being here" I take a break "Here" I close my eyes and pay attention to smells and sounds. "We'll be back soon" He whispers and I feel him peck my forehead "I love you, Goodnight" He rolls over onto his side, His arm wrapped around me and quickly falling asleep.

I wrote this half asleep and you can tell so. I am so tired from our vacation and a weekend trip with my friends is coming up so I'm getting ready for that, We're going to the lake tomorrow all day, and I'm already stressed about school. I know I shouldn't complain but I'm just feeling overwhelmed. I love writing this for all of you and I'm proud of the work I've done but combining this with school is going to be really hard and I'm trying to prepare myself for that. Ok i'll stop rambling now and actually post this. I hope you enjoyed this read.                                                   xxParks
