Amy's Point of View:

This morning the thing that woke me up wasn't myself but a light knock on the door. I rolled over a little and looked to the closed bedroom door waiting to see who's outside. The door doesn't open and the knocking stops so I roll over and look to the clock beside me. 8am. I look at the door again before rolling back over to my original place. A few minutes of quiet passes and I try to fall back asleep for a few minutes more but just as I close my eyes the knocking starts up again. I groan and prop myself on my elbow. Should I even answer this? "Come in?" You can here the question behind my voice as I wait for the knocker to enter. The nob twists and the door opens slowly, soon my mom walks in. "How did you know I was in here?" I sit completely up in the bed as my mom closes the door behind her. "Mom ears, Remember?" She whispers and plops on the end of my bed. I try not to think about all the other conversation she's heard since she's gotten here. "Ok but why are you in here?" I raise the blanket up so it's wrapped around me. "I was hungry and that sweet Ethan isn't here with coffee today" She looks out into the room, looking around "Who's room is this anyways?" She looks back to me with one eyebrow raised. "Ethan's" I try to say with confidence but after yesterday at breakfast the confidence is running short. I see her raise both eyebrows before looking back out into the room again "I gave my room to you and I went to talk to him and he gave me his room" I know what she's thinking and I don't even want that thought to cross her mind. She sighs and puts a hand on my leg "Breakfast?" She looks to me and runs her thumb across my leg.

I decided to take my mom to Jane's, One because I wasn't sure if I could handle another awkward meal at the table and Two because I needed to get out of the house. As we walk in, the aroma around me fills my nose and warms the inside of my body "Table for two please?" I walk up to the lady at the podium and smile. She takes us to a little wooden table by the giant glass window and sits us down before handing us our menus. "Thank you" My mom and I say at the same time. The hostess laughs before walking back to the podium. "So whats good here?" My mom looks at me over the top of her glasses across the table. "It's mainly pastries and light food" I lift my menu like I don't already know exactly what I want "The chocolate croissant is delicious though" She looks at me over the top of her menu and smiles. "Never let go of that sweet tooth, Ames" She laughs and I raise my eyes to look at her once more. The picture of her sitting across from me at my favorite cafe in Las Angeles and actually laughing and enjoying herself warms my heart. We sit in comfortable silence for a few moments and look over the menu, Well my mom looks over the menu while I know the menu inside and out. I see someone walk up beside our table and assume it's our waitress getting our drink orders but when I actually take the time to look up at them I'm pleasantly surprised "Eve!" You can hear the excitement in my voice as I stand to hug her. "Amy! I've missed you" She hugs me back over her large bump. "This is my mom" I look back to the table at my mom. "Nice to meet you, Mrs. Nelson" She smiles and holds a hand out to my mom. "Hello Eve, Nice to meet you too" She smiles and shakes her hand. I sit back in my chair and Eve takes her notepad out of her back pocket "Now I really do have to get your drink orders" She looks to my mom "I already know what you want Amy" She laughs and so do I. My mom orders coffee with cream and sugar and Eve gives us one last smile before walking away. "How did you two meet?" My mom asks not taking her eyes off the menu. "When I started this job I met four people, You've met three they live with me but who you have not met yet is Tyler, Eve is Tyler's girlfriend" I smile as I explain the story. I see my mom raise her eyes brows still not taking her eyes off the menu. I try to get her to look at me or say something but she doesn't and continues to look over the same three things on the menu.

Walking out of the cool air in Jane's is awful. California is supposed to be cooling down because It's supposed to be fall but this is my first fall here so I guess I don't really wouldn't know. "Where do you want to go now mom?" I catch up to her fast pace on the side walk. "Hm" She stops in the middle of the sidewalk and looks around "How about we just take a walk?" She looks at me, The light from the sun hitting her eyes just perfectly so you can see all the joining colors. She got out of her angry state of mind as soon as the food got to our table. I still think it's a tiny bit stupid she got mad that I'm friends with a pregnant woman but I'll just keep those thoughts to myself. The sidewalks in L.A. will go on and on forever and if you don't know where you're going you could easily get lost but I think I've gotten used to the area. After walking a few minutes we pass my old apartment building, It looks the same but I don't know why it would look different. When I realize the office is near I make it a priority to stop by there. We keep walking on the sidewalk, Letting my mom go a few feet in front of me. I see the street name of the road the office is on and realize we have to cross the street. "Mom" I talk loudly and she turns on her heel "I want to show you something" She shrugs her shoulders and jogs back from where she is to the cross walk.

"So" I unlock the door and hold it open for her "This is our office" She walks in and I follow, locking the door behind me. She takes a quick look around the main floor before making her way up to the loft. "We use the basement in our house now as a recording and editing space but we use this when we need a quiet place and to store large equipment. She gives an approving nod before I see a smile appear on her face "I see where your desk is" She makes her way over to the desk full of empty coffee cups and my primary colors blanket spread over my chair. "How'd you guess" I look at her and laugh "There really isn't anything special in here, I just wanted to show you my stomping grounds" I look around the office and realize how long it's been in here myself. She looks around the office, Looking at the white board calendar on the door and flipping through old planning papers. I hear her sigh before she turns around to face me "We should get going" She looks to her expensive watch on her wrist "We need to get home for dinner" I give her a nod and begin to follow her down the steps.

The smell in the house is filled with take out and it got me wondering how many times we have ordered take out for dinner. I hang my wallet on the hook by the door and watch my mom walk down the hall into the kitchen. "Hi, Mrs. Nelson" I hear Kathryn say, Picturing her cheesy smile "We didn't know what to get you so we just got the same think Amy gets" I hear as I'm walking down the hallway into the kitchen. "You kids have been so good to me while I've been here" I see her look to Kathryn like she raised her "I promise not to bother you for too much longer, I think tomorrow is my last day" I see the frown play across her lips. "Aw, Too bad it's such a short trip" I hear Mark say from the table, Hearing the sarcasm in his voice. I roll my eyes before taking my box off the counter and going to the table, Sitting on the other end of the table as Mark. I wonder how long he'll stop acting like a twelve year old about this situation. I know I'm in the wrong but I will tell my mom, I just haven't decided when. I lean against the back of my chair and cross one foot over the other while others make conversation around me, Beside Mark and I. I wonder if my mom will find out about anything happening, Guess tomorrow will tell.
