Chapter twenty-six: A new comrade
All of us waited in Aizen’s throne room, for the arrival of Orihime. Fang was also included. She stood next to Aizen, like an important member. I was standing by the door. I door behind me suddenly opened and Orihime stepped in with Ulquiorra following behind her. I started walking behind Ulquiorra, until Orihime stopped in front of Aizen.
I made my way next to Aizen and looked at Orihime. Fang shifted slightly. Orihime was terrified. She had a look of plain terror.
“Please display your powers by restoring Grimmjow’s amputated left arm,” Aizen ordered. Orihime moved towards Grimmjow and used her Soten Kisshun techinque to regenerate his left arm. I glanced at everyone around us. They all had faces of shock. I caught Luppi’s eye, and he was especially upset by this.
“Her powers enable her to be able to trample upon the even horizons that God himself has set in place,” Aizen explained. “Her power is rejection, meaning she is able to reject anything.”
“Restore my Espada tattoo,” Grimmjow requested. Orihime then heals Grimmjow’s scarred back, revealing his 6 tattoo. Grimmjow almost immediately attacked a horrified Luppi with his newly regenerated arm. He impaled him with his hand and threw him away, much to Orihime’s dismay.
Everyone besides Aizen, Ulquiorra, Orihime and I filed out quickly from Aizen’s throne room.
“Orihime will be under your supervision, Ulquiorra. Yours too, Akari,” Aizen told us. “Akari, take her to her assigned room.” I walked to Orihime and nodded at her, beckoning her to follow me.
Orihime had a modest room, with basically nothing to do.
“I did the right thing in coming to Hueco Mundo,” she lamented. “Helping Aizen would hinder my friends’ efforts against him.”
“You should act worthwhile around here.” I advised. She looked at me.
“You seem to be on our side,” she noted.
“Yes, on your side. Your ‘side’ is no longer with your friends. You are now our comrade.”
I felt someone waiting outside. “Come in,” I said. Ulquiorra stepped in with Orihime’s new clothes.
I sensed her friends’ reiatsu in Hueco Mundo. “Your friends have infiltrated Hueco Mundo.” Ulquiorra told her.
Orihime was shocked. “Why?” she asked.
“They have come to rescue you and that is the only reason they need,” Ulquiorra stated. “Such a thing for you would have no more meaning, because in both mind and body, you are our comrade. You will be wearing the same clothes as us. Your clothes will signify that your mind and body exists for Aizen-sama’s will.”
Ulquiorra looked and me and nodded, leaving the room. I glanced at Orihime and then left the room shortly afterwards.
“She showed dismay for a second and didn’t flinch at your questions,” I told Ulquiorra and I walked beside him. “This is indeed a girl of strong spirit.”
Ulquiorra was interrupted as Nnoitra Gilgra appeared. Nnoitra was the fifth Espada. “How is the handling of the girl? Yes, I know all about how Aizen had entrusted her care for you,” he explained to Ulquiorra, ignoring me slightly. “How far have you gotten in ‘taming’ her?”
“You should know that it is not only I, but Aojirohonō-sama as well.” Ulquiorra never called me Akari in front of others. Ulquiorra ignored Nnoitra and walked away. I followed after him.
“Degenerate scum,” Ulquiorra muttered. I laughed. Nnoitra swiftly used Sonido to move in front of us.
“Now, now. You shouldn’t get so testy. I was only asking if everything was going well,” Nnoitra smirked.
“I can’t comprehend why you would care about something so trivial,” I said.
“Don’t worry. Orihime has been under Aizen-sama’s spell even before she arrived in Hueco Mundo,” Ulquiorra told him.
“Did he use Kyoka Suigetsu as usual?” Nnoitra questioned.
“This situation is not that big of an issue to warrant its use,” I said.
“The moment that she was invited here, multiple psychological cages were put in place; by putting her friends in danger, she was forced into a situation where she couldn’t refuse, forcing her to surrender,” Ulquiorra explained. “We gave her a 12-hour period to say goodbye to one of her friends.”
“I don’t understand the significance of the psychological cage that you spoke about,” Nnoitra said.
“She was set to believe that we are not the enemy, therefore she will follow us of her own free will,” I told him. “By allowing saying goodbye to a friend of her own choosing, it allowed her to leave evidence of her free will in the event, so she will be looked upon as a traitor.”
“The plan is well thought out. I would expect nothing less of Aizen-sama,” Nnoitra stated.
“Such things to Aizen are nothing more than a game,” Ulquiorra corrected him. “If she is trapped then that is good. If she is not, then that is okay as well, as either way she doesn’t have the power to escape from Hueco Mundo or even the will to turn against them.” Then both of us left Nnoitra.
“I’ll be going to Aizen-sama. He is showing Orihime the Hogyoku. Would you like to come as well?” Ulquiorra said.
“No, I’ll be heading to my room,” I said.
