Chapter thirty: Hearts, beating as one.

“Akari, bring Orihime to me,” Aizen ordered. I was in his throne room, reporting that Grimmjow was defeated.

“Yes, Aizen,” I said.

“It’s Lord Aizen to you,” Tosen told me.

“I apologize,” I said coldly, but bowing to cover my cold demeanor.

Aizen smiled. “It’s not that I don’t respect you,” I assured him. “But I’ve always called you Aizen. Forgive me,” I forced myself to say this.

“That is not the situation right now, but yes, you are forgiven,” Aizen said. “Now, go.”

Orihime ran to Kenpachi, to heal his wounds but I prevented her from doing so. I appeared in front of her before anybody can do anything.

“I’ll be reluctantly borrowing Orihime, I apologize,” I stated as I vanished with Orihime before the others started attacking me.

We arrived before Aizen yet again.

“Smile,” Aizen told Orihime. “Wait, while we go and destroy Karakura town. Kaname, cast the Tenteikura spell,” he ordered Tosen.

“By kidnapping you,” he explained to Orihime. “I inspired Ichigo and his friends to attempt a rescue, thereby depriving Soul Society of a valuable military asset. Furthermore, when four captains assist in your rescue, adding to the three that have already defected, Soul Society is left half its regular strength. Thus, my forces and I are now ready to mount our challenges.”

“Akari,” he said turning to me. “Gin, Tosen, Espada 1 to 3 and I will be leaving for Karakura. I leave Hueco Mundo to the hands of you and Ulquiorra. Fang will be left here as well. You are not to harm her in anyway as she is my secret weapon, understood?”

“Yes,” I nodded.

“Very well,” he said. And they all left the fifth tower, leaving Orihime.

Suddenly, Ulquiorra appeared in the room. “Ulquoirra,” I said in relief as I wrapped my arms around him. He hugged me back, unemotionally.

“It seems like Aizen-sama left Hueco Mundo in our hands,” he said.

“Indeed he did,” I said, “What do we do now?”

“We await the arrival of Ichigo,” he answered. He looked at Orihime.

“Are you afraid now, that Aizen-sama doesn’t need you anymore? There is no one left to protect you. You will die in Hueco Mundo, all alone,” Ulquiorra taunted her. I stayed quiet.

“I’m not afraid,” Orihime answered boldly. “I have confidence in my friends and Ichigo. I’m not fearful because my heart is with them.” I sighed. This was going to gain Ulquiorra’s interest. “I would’ve done the same thing as any of my friends and all or hearts are now beating as one,” she went on. “I left to protect them, and now I eventually understand their actions.”
