Chapter twenty-four: The mission
After the night in which he told me that I was his friend, Ulquiorra and I spent more time with each other. Finally, someone I could talk and relate to. We'd train every afternoon but neither of us would draw our swords. Ever since that night, Grimmjow left me alone. Ulquiorra would visit me at night if he had no errands to run for Aizen and we would just talk.
"What are feelings?" Ulquiorra asked me, one night as I gazed at him.
"Feelings? Well, feelings are when you feel happy, sad, tired, angry etcetera. They are like emotions. But they are kept inside. Express feelings are when you show these emotions physically," I explained.
"I understand. What are you feeling now?" he asked.
"Tired and content," I replied. "What about you?"
"Curious, emotionless."
"I see," I smiled underneath my mask.
"Are you smiling?" he asked.
I nodded. Somehow, Ulquiorra could sense whenever I was smiling.
"I don't believe in Human emotions or feelings," he admitted.
"Why not?" I asked.
"I just don't understand the concept of a human heart. I hear humans speak of it all the time. What is this heart they speak of? My eyes can't see it."
"A heart is not something you can see," I told him. It was morning and we were talking in my room, facing each other.
A knock on the door was heard. "Come in," I said. An arrancar stepped in.
"Aizen-sama is calling a meeting for the Espada. He wishes for you to come as well Aojirohonō-sama," he squeaked.
"Thank you," As he left, I turned to Ulquiorra. "Let's go then."I grabbed my zanpakuto and tied it around my waist. I always took my zanpakuto to meetings for reasons that I couldn't fathom.
As we made our way to the meeting room, across white hallways, I glanced at Ulquiorra. He looked ahead, and his hands were in his pockets like usual. We stepped in the meeting room and closed the door behind us. I took a seat next to Aizen and Ulquiorra took a seat next to Tier Hallibel, the third and only female Espada.
"Brothers and sisters welcome," Aizen announced. I was the only one present besides Aizen who was not an Espada. Somehow, I seem to be like an Espada.
"Ulquiorra, I would like to send you to Karakura town to find Kurosaki Ichigo and report on his progress," Aizen looked at Ulquiorra.
Ulquiorra nodded, "Very well, Aizen-sama."
"Then it is settled," Aizen said. "You will go Karakura town, after this meeting."
"If you don't mind, I'd like to go with them too," I interrupted.
"You are more than welcome," Aizen said.
"I would like to go with him," Yammy Llargo insisted. "There might be delicious souls there." Yammy was the ninth Espada and he was probably the only one that annoyed me as much as Grimmjow. I looked around the room. Every Espada was present besides Fang.
"Very well,"Aizen said.
We arrived in Karakura town and I was relieved to experience weather. Yammy and Ulquiorra stood next to me.
"I hate being in the human world," Yammy complained.
"You insisted on coming here with us, so you shouldn't complain," Ulquiorra said.
