Chapter twenty-eight: By my own bare hands.

Ulquiorra shook me awake. I groaned and gazed at his teal eyes.

“Aizen-sama ordered me to protect you. You must wake up. The intruders are making their way through Las Noches,” he said calmly.

What had happened last night? Why was I laying in Ulquiorra’s bed with no clothes? He looked at me innocently. I widened my eyes as I realised what happened.

“Very well,” I yawned. “Can you hand me my clothes?”

I rubbed my eyes as Ulquiorra handed my clothes, including my mask and hood. I muttered a word of thanks and changed into my clothes. I tied my mask and placed my hood on my head.  I then jumped of the bed. I grabbed my zanpakuto and tied it around my waist. I straightened my clothes and looked at Ulquiorra. “Let’s go.”

Gin suddenly busted into Ulquiorra’s room, destroying the door partially.

“Ah, sorry about that,” Gin grinned, glancing back at the door.

“What are you doing here?” I asked impatiently.

“Lord Aizen would like a word with you two, follow me,” he smiled.

Ulquiorra and I followed Gin to Aizen’s throne room. Aizen didn’t sit on his throne for once, he was instead standing in front of us, smiling. I frowned. In the room, there was Aizen, Gin, Ulquiorra

“Well, if it isn’t Ulquiorra and Akari,” Aizen smirked, putting emphasis on my name.

“What do you need, Aizen?” I frowned.

“This might come off as bad news to some of you, but Akari I have no more need for you,” Aizen announced.

“What does that mean?” I asked. That question went unanswered.

“Ulquiorra,” Aizen turned to him. “I order you to kill Akari. Right here, and right now.”

Ulquiorra’s widened slightly. “I have carried out all your previous orders, Lord Aizen. But I’m afraid I cannot perform this one.”

“Why not?” Aizen pressed further.

“I cannot kill Akari,” Ulquiorra replied. “I’m sorry, but I will not harm her in any way.”

“But there must be a reason,” Aizen said.

“Forgive me, Aizen-sama. I will carry out all of your orders, not matter what they are. But if it is harming Reina in anyway, I will not perform it, even if it means giving up my life.

“Reina?” Gin and Aizen asked in unison.

“You know her true name?” Gin asked. I looked down.

“Yes, I told him. Is that a surprise?”

Aizen smiled. What was his problem? “Perfect. Everything is going according to plan,” he noted.

“According to plan?” I exclaimed. “Wait, you told him didn’t you?” I turned to Gin.

“Er,” Gin began.

“Gin,” I threatened, advancing on him. Gin backed away slowly.

“You can’t exactly blame him,” Aizen said.

“You told him?” I asked, moving to Gin with my fist clenched.

“Indeed he did. He had no choice,” Aizen said.

“About Byakuya as well?” I questioned Gin.

“Byakuya was obvious. But you did very well in hiding Ulquiorra,” Aizen said. I suddenly punched Gin full on the face. He backed away, wincing in pain.
