Our missing friend

Chapter 64

I walk to Cole house and I've been standing on his porch for ten minutes, but I don't know exactly what to say to him yet.

I finally ring the doorbell and wait, I watch the door open and see Cole face. He smiles at me but I can tell he's confused to why I'm here unannounced.

"Hey Hazel?" He laughs

"Hey do you mind if we go upstairs? I need to talk to you about something" I sigh sadly

He sees the look on my face and he immediately stops smiling "yeah"

We walk to his room and he shuts the door behind him, I sit on his bed and look at the picture of him and Daisy that's on his nightstand.

"Is everything okay?" He asks a little confused

"It's Daisy" I spit out

He sits down next to me "is s-she" he says tears building up in his eyes

"No no at least I don't think so" I shake my head

"Then what about her?"

"I found out why she was so secretive" I look at at him and see he's waiting for me to continue "I found this note in her room and I finally called it and it was a guy and we met up I didn't tell you about it because I didn't know if he  and her" I ramble a little

"Who was he?" He asks me trying to understand

"He's a doctor" I say and turn towards him "her doctor"

"What do you mean her doctor?" He says confused

"He told me she was sick " I say and watch his face, it's like he doesn't understand and he shakes his head

"There's no way" he starts saying but stops "h-how didn't I realize that something was happening to her" he says finally understand everything and he closes his eyes tight "why didn't she tell me!"

"She didn't tell anyone. Only her parents knew" I tell him

"But I was her boyfriend. We loved each other and we wanted to spend the rest of our lives together" he says not bothering holding back his tears

"She probably didn't want to put you through that and I don't think she was ready to except it yet"

"She was going through this alone and " he stops talking "where is she Hazel?" He pleads

"I don't know where she is" I start crying myself because the look on his face is breaking my heart

I hug him and he wraps his arms around me and let's everything he's been keeping inside bottle up out.

After I leave Coles house I walk straight to Daisy house not knowing why. I knock on their door and wait for someone to open it.

Her mom opens the door and looks at me with surprise "Hazel what a pleasant surprise" she gives me a small smile

"Daisy was sick" I hiccup

She looks at with confusion almost like she was about to deny it but then shakes her head "she didn't want anyone to know"

"She's been sick all this time and " I shake my head and put a hand over my mouth

"She didn't want anyone to treat her any different and wanted to live a normal life. We thought she was going to get better but" she says crying as well "who else knows?"

"Me, Felix, Ruby, Trevor and Cole" I tell her honestly

"I know if she wanted anyone to know if would be you guys" she nods

"Why didn't you want Cole and Daisy to be together?" I can't help but ask

"At first I didn't want them to be together when I heard about his past but then I saw the way they look at each other and I didn't want them to be together because I knew how much it was going to break their hearts if something " she rambles but I know what she's mean

"I'm sorry" I tell her

"I want her to come home she shouldn't be alone" she shakes her head

I'm going to find her.
