{Georgina's POV}

The setting sun cast long, eerie shadows over the eiffel tower. Alivia, Em and I were waiting for Sofie under the arch of the tower.

"Hey!" A small voice came from the shadows behind us. Alivia span around, her hand grazing her bow as she went to pull an arrow from her quiver.

"AHHHHHHHHH!" I screamed. Jolting backwards, I saw Sofie enveloped in the shadows.

"I saw something. My friend. I saw them killing- no. Transforming. They were transforming mortals into birds- they looked like ravens. They kept on saying something about "that pesky bunch of demigods", then they were talking about using something or somebody to power a machine that would help them turn people into his "eternal slaves" more efficiently." Her hands were shaking, her voice robotic and rehearsed, though quick.

"Do you mean the friend on the boat?"

"It was Raven. They organised the boat, the one who was transforming the mortals."

"They?" Em questioned.

"Yeah, they're agender. Yeah, and umm, well.," She turned to face me. "They mentioned something about you."

"What?" I asked.

"Something about you being, well, controlled. A traitor."

"You can't possibly believe that." I was suddenly worried. I knew that I wasn't being controlled, but there was that nagging thought in my mind that somehow it could be true. Surely my friends would believe me though. We hadn't known each other for long, but we had become close. Even with me sometimes feeling like a bit of a fourth wheel.

"Well, you have kind of been acting strange lately," Alivia cut into the conversation.

"And the prophecy mentioned a traitor," Sofie quietly said. She looked up for a second, and I could have sworn that one eye turned amber. But as soon as I had blinked, it had gone. A trick of the light.

"Since when have I been acting strange?!" I felt a sudden anger boiling inside of me. I couldn't understand how easily they'd gone along with something that Sofie had probably misheard. Plus, we had no reason to trust her, either.

"Well, for one you blew up the Parthenon, and then you-" Em started. I unsheathed my sword, unsure of what was happening. Did I really not matter that much to them that they could dismiss me as a traitor immediately?

"I always hoped, you know, that you guys would be different from others. That you'd believe me, and you wouldn't just throw me away like I never knew you. I'm not a traitor. The only traitors here are you lot." I lunged forward with my sword, which was quickly blocked by Calcite. All eyes were on me, and I could feel my heart thumping against my ribcage. I placed my sword away, feeling my cheeks redden.

"I'm so sorry, guys. I don't know what came over me, ple-" I was cut short by Sofie with an angry glare on her face.

"That's the point. We can't trust you, because what if that happened in a battle? You try to kill one of us?"

"You're gonna get us killed, Georgina. Just, stay out of it. We can manage this quest on our own. You haven't exactly been any help so far, traitor." Em spat at me, her words like acid burning my skin.

The three started walking on, together, towards the inn that we'd managed to book. I walked on behind, as the sky darkened, and rain started dripping down my face.

{Does it remind anyone else of Eponine singing, 'On My Own'?}
