{Sofie's POV}

I instantly regretted the high heels as I jumped off the platform. They had been hurting my feet for a while, and I was now sure that I had twisted my ankle.

"Raven, have you got my Doc Martens up there?" In response, they threw down my dark red boots, and I started replacing my shoes.

"Sofie?" Alivia was standing next to Millie, her mouth gaping wide open.

"Oh, I'm sorry, Liv. I haven't been with you for quite some time." I looked around, surprised that I hadn't heard Georgina shout out something about cheese or potatoes.

"Where is she?" I asked. I hoped that she was still alive, considering she had just dove in front of an arrow for "me".

"What do you mean you haven't been with us for quite some time?" Alivia asked, completely ignoring my question.

"Well, Raven and I both manipulated a clone a while back. Poor thing, it even thought that it was me. I would have liked to have a conversation with it, actually." Raven jumped down next to me, giving me a smile I rarely saw.

"Anthony, dispose of them." Raven's cold voice seemed to echo as I realised what he was ordering Millie's ex to do. I ran over to Anthony, quickly kicking him and causing him to fall on his back, all before he could draw his sword.

"Raven, you promised that they'd be safe. Unharmed." Anthony struggled upwards, so I grabbed the nearby stiletto and stuck the heel in his mouth.

"I'm sorry, Sofie, but they're going to ruin it all. The gods are greedy, keeping all the immortality to themselves. These demigods would ruin it all. They would ruin our future, Sof."

"There is no point having a future if there's no-one to share it with. However much I'd like to be alone, I'd still like somebody to occasionally talk to." I couldn't believe what Raven was saying. We'd planned, and gotten this far, and now they were changing their mind.

"You'd have me, Sof." Their voice grew more gentle, and they started looking down, almost as if embarrassed.

"Why would I care about having you?" I shouted back, though it wasn't quite true. I suddenly wondered whether the crowds of controlled mortals were trying to kill my friends right now, and it made me realise how much I really did need them alive.

"BECAUSE I LOVE YOU SOFIE, THAT'S WHY!" They yelled, their voice cracking at the end as if crying. As they looked up, I saw that their amber eyes had a shine to them, as if traced with tears. I was slightly confused as to why someone would love me.

"I love you too, Raven. But not the way you think. I'm sorry, goodbye." I angled my face towards the ground, trying to avoid the glares I was receiving. I was a traitor on both parts, and I doubted either of them would accept me now. I remembered something I'd once said, 'Whichever side I'm on is the best one, because I'm in it.' Maybe I would have to be my own team, but whatever team it was, I would make sure that it would win.

"CHARGE!" The crowds of mortals charged towards me and my friends, their weapons glinting in the fading sunlight. I felt a baguette whack me on the head from behind, so I did an Ushiro Geri kick (I'd wondered for ages how a backwards kick would come into use). My sword collided with another blade, sending the man hurtling backwards and impaling himself on a mortal's sword. Out of the corner of my eye, Alvia seemed to be stabbing someone, and Millie had gone a sickly grey shade. I'd seen her summon the dead earlier, and I had a feeling that it had drained her a lot. I ran over to her, kicking a few ravens away from my feet. I did not want any bird poo on my shoes.

"You alright?" I asked Millie as I slung my sword through a mortal to my left.

"I can sense death."
