{Sofie's POV}

It took me a while to fall asleep, mainly because I kept on wondering who it was that Raven had seen. Georgina had volunteered to sit in the boot so I could sleep across the back seats, but I heard her say something about not having any dignity left. Millie and Georgina had been arguing about whether to take a plane or a boat to France.

"I can't go in Zeus' terrain and I hate planes, so none of them, please." Georgina pleaded.

"Well I hate boats." Millie protested.

"I hate flying, too." I added.

"Do we even have any money to pay for these methods of transport?" Alivia asked.

"No, but we're still going to argue about it." Georgina said.

"Boat's cheapest, and I think I can get us a ride for free. I just have to call somebody," I said.

"Okay, cool."

I walked over to the woods with a water bottle, hoping that Raven would somehow know a luxury cruise captain. I'd seen a demigod in Camp Half Blood use Iris messaging, and from there I'd taught myself. I got out the water bottle and with my sword, poked a few tiny holes in the lid. I held it upside down, and when it caught the light, I threw a drachma in.

"Oh Iris, goddess of the rainbow and LGBTQIA community, please accept my offering. Can I see, uh, Raven, please." I felt a bit stupid talking to a water bottle, so I was glad that nobody was looking. The mist shimmered to reveal Raven, who smiled when they saw it was me.

"Sofie. Back so soon?"

"You know how you said you want me to be safe on this quest, right?"

"No, because I said I wanted you to find a way to abort this quest. But go on."

"Yeah. But, presumably if you didn't want me to go on this quest it's because you want me to be safe, right? So my friends and I were wondering if there was any way that you could get us a boat to France?" I knew that it was quite a lot to ask for, but it was our best hope.

"Certainly. Your Captain will meet you at the San Francisco port at 5 o'clock later today."

"Thank you so much." I broke the mist with my hand and walked to the car with a bounce in my step.

"Guys, we're going to meet the captain of the boat at the San Francisco port at 5 tonight."

"What are we going to until then? The dock is only a couple of hours away and it's 11 in the morning, " said Millie.

"Get food." Georgina stated. No-one disagreed, so Millie got her phone and set Google maps to the nearest supermarket. I was starving, so I was thankful for Georgina's suggestion.

We pulled up next to the supermarket and bound towards the entrance like a pack of starving wolves, which we were.

"Okay. We have $20," declared Alivia.

"Can we get Pringles?" I asked. I'd been craving them for a while. I picked up a can of original pringles and handed them to Alivia.

"What? Why are you giving these to me? These are your Pringles," said Alivia.

"Oh, right. Haha" I laughed awkwardly, one of my specialities. After a few more minutes, we'd got all the snacks we could wish for, and we heading over to the counter, our arms threatening to drop with the weight. The cashier was wearing an apron with the supermarket's logo plastered across the front and had a black fedora pulled low over her face. I wasn't the best with fashion, but it certainly didn't suit her.

"$20," she hissed as she shoved her open palm into Millie's face. Milie hesitantly put the money into her hand, "Uh. Have a nice day, I guess." Millie and I awkwardly shuffled towards the exit.

"You two smell funny. Especially you, Millie, different perfume?" Announced the cashier. I felt Millie going stiff beside me. The cashier tilted her fedora upwards to reveal the face of an elderly woman.

"Mrs E?" Millie gulped. I edged towards the door. "Mrs E"'s skin began to bubble just like the policemen's had, as it cracked and shifted into the face of a vulture.

"Millie, we need to go. Now," I whispered. We both bolted for the exit, grabbing Georgina and Alivia by the wrists. Somebody in our cluster of people had picked up a sack of potatoes and was proceeding to throw them at Mrs E while shouting, "FEEL THE WRATH OF MY POTATOES!!!!!!!!!!" I figured out that it was Georgina because when we arrived at the car, she was holding two large bags of potatoes. I jumped in, and before I could do my seatbelt, Millie had hit the accelerator, and we were now racing out of the carpark. Mrs E was following us still, but she occasionally received a potato to her face. Millie swerved to avoid crashing into a 1967 Chevrolet Impala, but it sent one of Georgina's potato sacks flying into Millie's face.

"I can't see!" Millie screamed, which wasn't the best thing you'd like to hear from your driver. The car slammed into a shop window, sending plastic mannequins and posh handbags through Georgina's open window.

"The car isn't working!" Millie said, panicked.

"Really? I hadn't noticed." I said as I left the car. The others followed my example, and as I looked around, I realised that Mrs E seemed to be gone.

I sighed, "Everyone's on drugs."

"Which ones?" Millie asked.

"C-" I was interrupted by Georgina.

"No-one's on drugs!!"

"Guys, Mrs E could be anywhere. It's unlikely that she's disappeared completely. We should probably have this conversation in a bit." Alivia said.

"Fine, but how are we gonna get anywhere?" Millie asked. A scream seemed to come from behind us, and that was when we realised that Georgina was missing. Mrs E was holding her upside down by her ankles, with a strength that seemed strange of an old woman. But then again, she wasn't a regular old woman.

"Help me! SHE TOOK MY POTATOES!!!!!!!!!!!" Georgina cried, but it was rather hard for us all not to laugh. I took Calcite and stabbed it through Mrs E's heart, who seemed rather preoccupied with Georgina. She fell to the ground, and so did Georgina, but unlike Mrs E, she didn't disintegrate.

"How unfortunate," Millie said.

"I know! I feel really dizzy now." Georgina did look like she was going to faint.

"I didn't finish my sentence. How unfortunate that you didn't die with her." Georgina's face fell, just like she had previously.

"I'm kidding, Georgina. I'm glad you survived." She laughed, and then patted Georgina's back.

"So, we don't have any money left for a taxi, so are we going to just walk there?" Alivia asked.

"It seems to be that way."
