{Sofie's POV}

 The Parthenon was overrun by tourists all pushing to get a photo of the tribute to Athena. The outskirts of the Parthenon was a sea of Hawaiian shirts. The building looked even more amazing than I had imagined, and the illusion the Ancient Greeks had created by not including right angles really made it look massive.

"Did you know that the Parthenon is the largest building made entirely of marble?" I told the others. I heard a collective sigh, and then,

"Uhhhh, right. Sofie, why don't you get a bit closer and get a photo. Millie and I will stay here. Alivia will go with you, won't you?" said Georgina. She seemed to be a lot calmer than usual, which worried me slightly. Georgina was never calm.

"About my name. Please could you call me Em instead? Millie reminds me of dead butterflies." Em said. I nodded, though I was slightly unsure about what it had to do with dead butterflies.

I walked forwards, a tad annoyed that Alivia and I had to be together. She was probably feeling the same, though. As usual, she shuffled forwards, as if being cautious of of everything.

"I think this would be a nice angle to take a photo from, don't you think? It would capture the pillars well." I knelt down on the ground, trying to imagine a photo.

"Sofie, that woman's pointing at you. At us, actually."

"I must be more attractive than I thought." I heard Alivia scoff. A sickening crack came from behind me as a group of tourists snapped their heads towards us in perfect synchronisation.

"Okay, not creepy at all." The group tilted their heads to the left, still moving in absolute synchronisation. They started walking towards us, their eyes fixed on Alivia and I. With a whoosh, an arrow flew past my ear, straight into the heart of a tourist. She disintegrated into dark grey dust. The regular mortal tourists started taking photos. Maybe they thought it was a magic show. Alivia continued firing arrows, but the large majority of the tourist group was still walking towards us. I took out Calcite and swung the blade towards the main woman's body. She dodged out of the way, and in doing so, her arms transformed into lion legs, until a strange lion-like creature with a scorpion tail was in front of me. The other tourists had now turned into them too, as if they were all one pack.

"Death at your mother's temple. Wouldn't that be nice?" I was surprised that the creature still spoke with a rather human voice. I kicked it in the head, and then stabbed it in the back. It disintegrated, so I quickly glanced over at Alivia to check if she was okay. She had gotten out a dagger and was stabbing the monsters. Blood was trickling out of her leg. I ran over, swiping my sword through the creatures. One turned around, its scorpion tail whacking my stomach, leaving a scorch mark through my shirt.

The monsters outnumbered us give to one, but I wasn't going to let them get away after ruining one of my favourite Doctor Who t-shirts. I turned to call Em and Georgina over, my eyes frantically skimming the masses of people. Em and I locked eye contact as I beckoned them over. Within seconds I could see them emerging from the crowds . Alivia was making a series of pathetic noises as she tried to keep away some of the creatures. Except, she wasn't being pathetic. Alivia was a whirlwind of arrows firing at whatever dared come close to her. I felt my jaw drop slightly. Em and Georgina were working back to back looking out for each other and shouting warnings like 'look out' as well as 'you're holding the sword the wrong way!'.

"TAKE THAT!" Georgina screamed as she impaled a monster. The monster exploded, and then, as tourists screamed, everything went black. I could hear the shrill sound of Georgina screaming, "POSEIDON'S UNDERPANTS!!!!!!"

I lifted my head, and at first I couldn't recognise the wreck I saw. Smashed pillars lined the ground, and a strange woman- a paramedic maybe- was leaning over me. Then it came back to me- I was at the Parthenon. The place I'd wanted to go to since I was five. The place I thought I could finally be at peace with. I felt a waterfall of tears streaming down my face.
