Chapter 19: Midnight Madness
PJ POV:
"PJ!" Mom called, while shaking me awake. I got up lazily from the couch and rubbed my eyes.
"Is it time yet?" I asked.
"No. Just stay awake, OK. You just need to be ready to pick up your brother and sister. She explained.
"They haven't called yet?" I said. I was starting to get worried. I looked at our clock and saw that it was 12:04am already.
"I'm pretty sure they're on their way." she assured. I could tell Mom was also worried.
I sighed and leaned back into the couch and closed my eyes.
"Get up!" mom said, frantically. It's been like this ever since 9:00pm passed.
"I still don't get why I have to go and get them." I whined.
"Your father has a very important meeting about his job tomorrow, so he needs some rest. And I have to stay with the kids. Remember, Charlie's sick." she said.
"Yeah, I know." I mumbled.
"Alright, now I don't want to come and wake you up again. Do NOT go to bed!!!" she exclaimed.
That was ironic. Usually she tells us to go to bed.
Spencer and Beau already visited, asking for Teddy. But, I had to break the news to them.
The two guys looked very bummed when the heard the bad news.
Beau almost broke into tears because he couldn't extend his flight any longer. He had to move and start college by Monday. He had to settle into Tennessee as soon as possible.
The poor guy couldn't say his final goodbyes to his girlfriend in person.
And Spencer, he seemed a bit angry about the situation. But, he insisted to stay 2 days longer just to be on the safe side.
Apparently Teddy's more important than anything else.
Gabe POV:
Teachers keep on telling us "Everything would be fine. The bus will be here before you know it."
But, no. They were wrong. It's midnight now and there was no sight of a bus.
I was barely awake and was trying not to doze off in the broken bus.
Teddy's actually the most calm out if us all. She's really perky and was trying to lift the spirits of others.
I'm jealous of her right now. How could she NOT be freaking out at a moment like this?
I really don't understand her.
Everyone's going mad. And by everyone, I mean everyone except my sister Teddy.
It's like a bunch of wild animals trying to escape from their cages.
Then, there's Teddy standing in the middle of it all like an angel.
Out of us all, she was the one who stuck out.
I was tired of sitting and waiting in the stupid bus for something I know won't be coming any soon.
It's the night, so I got random chills every now and then.
This stinks.
Teddy POV:
This is awesome!!! I mean, I don't have to see Spencer tonight...everything's turning out just perfect.
All of a sudden, I hear my phone ring.
It was PJ.
"WHERE ARE YOU GUYS!? Mom's making me stay up until you guys come. I can't wait any longer. Please say you guys are gonna be home soon." he asked tiredly but with a hint of hopefulness and worry in his voice.
"Sorry PJ. The other bus is..." I then got blown away by the sight of a beeping red coach bus coming into the Pizza Hut.
I never heard PJ calling my name on the phone.
"Teddy? Hello?" he kept on asking, repeatedly.
"PJ...the bus came!!!" I exclaimed.
I heard a bunch of cheers coming from my classmates and Gabe's.
Then all hurriedly gathered around the bus and when the doors opened, they scurried to get the best seats in the gigantic coach bus.
"Bro, I gotta go now. I'll call back in about and hour. We're coming home!" I said.
"Yes! Finally!" PJ said more happily.
We're going home.
