Chapter 28: Destination: Florida
Bob POV:
"Kids, hurry up! We're gonna be late for our flight!" was the first thing I heard as soon as I entered out house.
I just finished clearing up almost everything from the Bob's Bugs Begone location here in Denver.
"They're not ready yet?" I asked my wife who was gathering most of Toby's things.
Only two suitcases were near the door, already packed: Amy's and Charlie's.
"Hey, where's Charlie?" I asked.
"What's with you and the questions, Bob?"
I shrugged my shoulders.
"Whatever just go upstairs and check on the boys." she told me.
I did as told, not wanting to get in trouble with her at a time like this.
"PJ! Gabe! What's taking so long?" I yelled. Their room door was closed and I could hear their voices.
I opened the door and saw them with a third suitcase filled with video games.
PJ had the console in his hands while Gabe was trying to make room for it.
As soon as they saw me, they both stepped in front of the suitcase, grinning mischievously.
"I can see the video games." I muttered.
Gabe looked behind and nudged PJ. "Fine you caught us." PJ admitted.
"What? You were supposed to lie!" Gabe scolded.
"Oh. My bad." PJ said.
"Boys, you're only allowed one suitcase." I said.
"No, we're not." Gabe said, holding out a piece of paper.
It was our airline information.
It showed our seats, airline, flight and landing times, etc. But, as I squinted at the fine print near the bottom of the page, it said:
TWO SUITCASES FOR EACH PERSON-MAX.
And Gabe won again.
I reread that sentence. I suppose I should pack up some more things since there's a chance I'd be moving to Florida.
"Alright...just be fast. I'm giving you two five minutes." I said.
They nodded, so I left the room and scurried off to mine and Amy's.
As I walked past the staircase, I could also hear Teddy's voice downstairs so I figured we better leave soon.
I found a small, spare suitcase and packed extra of my belongings.
As I finished, I zipped the suitcase and hurried downstairs.
No one was there, but the door was open.
I looked outside and all my kids plus my wife were outside, in the car waiting for me.
---------------------------------
"In about five hours, we'll be in Florida!" I exclaimed, trying to get Teddy perked up.
She sat one row away from me, but I could see, hear and speak to her with ease.
She was in the middle column with her two brothers. I was to her right and Charlie was right next to me. She got the window seat.
Amy and Toby were on the other side, to the left of PJ.
The plane already departed, so we were in the sky for about 15 minutes now.
Teddy POV:
Dad, Gabe and PJ were trying to cheer me up, although I doubt they know what I'm upset about.
I had so much planned for summer, for my life.
I'm supposed to be applying for college in Denver, but now I'd be unhappily vacationing in Florida.
I'm unsure about college now, you know, because of all these road blocks with Dad's job.
I still haven't spoken to Vonnie about the whole Spencer problem.
Ivy's gonna be leaving for college near the end of August actually, and I won't even get to say a proper goodbye.
I might just get to video chat if the wifi service is good in Florida.
