Chapter 9: Replay
PJ's POV:
I just woke up to to the smell of burnt toast. I'm sleeping in the Duncan house right now since Mom and Dad need my help at home. Toby's been quite fussy lately and Charlie's been bugging me quite often to play with her. Dad's been working much longer now. I guess he's having lots of fun with his new co-worker, Beau.
I run downstairs when I heard Mom yelling and slapping the toaster with a spoon. "Mom, why didn't you let me make breakfast!" I exclaimed, trying not to laugh. "Honey, I have to learn someday..." she stopped. "You won't always be here. Neither will Teddy. You both would have your own future's so look after...not me!" she said, sadly. "Mom, I'll always be there for you... maybe not always, but when I'm there." "I understand...sort of." she said, looking confused. I wasn't sure why... I squinted my eyes at her. Then she started laughing and pulled me into a hug. Mom is indeed one of a kind. 😝
Gabe POV:
It's Wednesday morning now. I'm still in bed looking through my phone for no reason. The good thing is, only two more days here then I'm out. Finally. I can't take any more of the misquotes. I think I'm developing a phobia of them now. Seriously, every inch of this place has a mosquito in it. None of the repellents Dad gave me are working. And I'm too tempted to itch myself. I decided to get outta bed cuz Jake was about to get off.
I took the covers off and found out that my right leg was swollen. My eyes widened at the sight. How-oh yeah. A devil-creature bit me there on the first day I came. Curse those things. I sat up and got off the bed, but it really hurt. I checked my arms... those ones had grew bigger as well. But none of them hurt; and they definitely weren't as big as my leg. I decided to cope with this and act like nothing happened.

Teddy POV:
It's lunchtime now. We have burgers. I just finished a morning of rock climbing. I have to say, I didn't get really far. But Gabe, he's a wiz and I think his class is up next after lunch. I look to the bulletin board where the schedules were posted, and I saw him and some of his friends there, looking at the schedule and talking. I haven't seen him since this morning.
"Teddy, your phone just lit up. I'm pretty sure you got a text." Kelsey said, who had just gone to our cabin to change her shorts... she spilled juice on them and went all crazy since they were 'brand new'. "Do you know who it was from?" I asked so wondering if she had read it. "I'm not sure. I didn't read it." she replied. Can she read my mind? Who am I kidding, its Kelsey... she's part of the cheerleading squad. And as I said before, they're the dumbest kids in school.
Gabe POV:
Well, here we are now... at the gigantic climbing wall at camp. My eyes widened at the sight of it. How the heck does a person expect a 14 year old to climb that?! Well, I doubt I'll be the only one that fails.
After nine people went on...
Ok, I was wrong. I was up next and 8/9 people who went up succeeded. I had on all my gear and stuff, ready to go up. I said to myself, relax Gabe! you were great at this when you were seven...wait who am I kidding, I can't do this anymore!
I was up... this is actually pretty easy. I looked back, hearing Jake cheering me on. Then turned back to the wall and slammed my leg against the wall. I bit my lip. Oh and better yet, that was the swollen leg. Damn it was hurting a lot. Much more than before. Glad it's not a replay of yesterday, though. I yelled out at the others to let me down. Afterwards, I just sat on the bench watching the others laughing and having a good time.
Teddy POV:
I returned back to my cabin after the last activity and saw my phone on my bed. I remembered what Kelsey said before. I picked it up and checked my texts...i saw one new one. It was from Spencer.
He asked,
HOW ARE YOU? I MISS U. ❤
I didn't know how to reply. From that text it seemed like he still had feelings for me. I just know it. But, Spencer doesn't know about Beau. I hope they don't run into each other while I'm gone. That'd be...bad.
Then, I got another text. This time, it was from Beau.
