Chapter 10: Did This Just Happen?

Teddy POV:

I slowly opened the text I got from Beau. Here's what it said:

HI TEDDY, I UH, NEED TO TELL U SOMETHIN

What?! This sounded important. I scrolled down to see if there was more, but there was nothing. I decided to text him back.

COULD I CALL U LATER THEN WE COULD TALK BOUT....WHATEVER U NEEDED 2 TELL ME

I turned off my phone and went off with the rest of my class who were just exiting the cabin.

Amy POV:

"PJ, did you speak to your sister and brother yet?" I asked him. "Um, yeah." I looked down. "They're fine, Mom. Nothing happened." PJ said. "OK, good. I just miss them so much." she said. "Same here." All of a sudden, someone knocked on the door. I walked towards the door and saw Beau with his exterminator uniform on. "Hi, Mrs. Duncan. Bob and I were doing an extermination job nearby and I decided to stop by." he said. I nodded and let him in. "So, have you seen Teddy lately? I haven't seen her in a while." he said. Oh, so that was the reason he was here, to see Teddy. I noticed PJ's phone started ringing, so he got up and ran upstairs. "Teddy and Gabe went to a summer camp for a week. They'll be back on Friday." I just then realized Friday was only 2 days away!

"Oh." he said with a saddened expression in his face. "What's wrong?" I asked. "I have to extend my flight then." Beau said, thinking aloud. "What?" I asked. "Oh, I have to move back to Tennessee. Got accepted to a college there." he explained. I raised both eyebrows. Teddy would be heartbroken. "That's why I want to see Teddy so bad. I have to say my good-bye in person." Beau checked his phone. "Alright. So I'll come back on Friday." I waved good-bye and Beau walked out the door. Wow.

Gabe POV:

Well, I was back in my cabin after that last incident. I sat down on my bed and looked down at my leg. Ugh. This sucks. I just sat there, and put my head in my hands. I'm pretty sure the next activity is kayaking. I'm not up to it. I can hardly walk and my leg hurts a lot. I miss home. I miss PJ, Mom, Dad, Toby, even Charlie.

At the thought of home and my family, I felt my eyes tearing up. My face was buried in my hands. I stayed like this until I heard the noise die down, yep, the kids left the cabin. My teacher came up to me and said, "Gabe, you OK?" I lifted my head and said, honestly, "No." "Look, I can't stay with you." he paused. "Wait, isn't your sister here?" he asked. I closed my eyes when I heard the word sister, sighed and said, "yeah." "What's wrong? Ya don't want her here?" he asked. I shook my head. "Eh, normal thing with siblings." he muttered. Afterwards, the teacher said he'll get her and for me to wait here. I didn't tell him anything about my leg, though. I didn't want to.

Teddy POV:

I had just finished putting on my shorts for kayaking, when I heard a knock on the cabin's door. The teacher gestured for me to open it, so I did. There was Gabe's teacher standing there. "Ah, Teddy!" he said cheerfully. "Uh, hi. What can I, help you with?" I asked. "Could you come outside." he said. I looked back, then I walked outside with him. "Is it ok for you to, skip this current activity?" he asked. "Why?" I said. "Well, your brother isn't doing so well." "Oh, so he wants me?" I wondered. Then he laughed. I grinned, not knowing what was happening. "Mr-" I attempted to say. "He actually didn't want you to be here." he said, giggling. Some sense of humour this guy has. "I have to get back to the class. So are you going." I hesitated to say "Yes." Gabe didn't even want me here. My heart sunk. I did so much for him. The teacher looked at me with pleading eyes. Suddenly I remembered what mom said when it was confirmed Gabe and I were coming here. I have to look after him no matter what. That's my punishment for something that was his fault. "Fine, I'll go." I finally said. The teacher grinned again then walked off.

I turned back to my teacher in the cabin. "Um, something came up. I have to skip kayaking." I said, sadly. I was actually looking forward to this. "Your brother?" she asked. "Yep."

Before I left I checked my phone. There was a reply from Beau. it read:

TEDDY, I'M LEAVING DENVER. I'M

MOVING BACK TO TENNESSEE. GOT A COLLEGE THERE, SO... I'LL

SEE U ON FRI 2 SAY AN ACTUAL GOODBYE. WELL, BYE.

I can't believe this. First Spence, I mean Spencer, then Beau!? Did this just happen?
