Chapter 25: The Call

Teddy POV:

The day so far has been very interesting.

I'm still quite confused about the whole Spencer and Vonnie situation.

I need answers, I need reasons for everything that has been said to me.

It's so hard to tell the difference between the truth and the slightest lie.

I'm not in the mood for any boyfriend problems.

While I was busy thinking in my bedroom, my phone started ringing.

I looked at my caller ID and saw it was from someone whom I never spoke to in quite some time.

Well, I just jinxed it. Great.

I took a deep breath, then answered it.

"Hello? Teddy?" he said in his cute Country accent.

"How ya doin' Beau?" I greeted with my amazing Southwestern accent.

"Please stop that, Teddy." he said, quite seriously.

My happiness died down after a few seconds when I recollected my thoughts.

"How's everything going there?" I asked, trying to make conversation.

"Great. You're back from your trip now, right?"

"Yes. Listen, Beau..."

I wanted to talk to him about 'us'.

For some reason I felt some strange feeling when I heard his voice.

Yes, I was quite delighted to hear it, but at the same time I wasn't.

It's complicated.

"Yes, Teddy?" he said.

"Are, we still dating?"

"I don't know, you tell me." he replied.

Typical Beau.

"Beau, I'm not the greatest at handling long-distance relationships."

He was silent for a few seconds until I called out his name.

"Beau?"

"Teddy, I'm so sorry." he said.

"What?" I asked, very confused about what he said, which could mean many things.

"I'm sorry this didn't work out." he apologized.

Now I understood.

"I thought we could still be in a long-distance relationship." he said.

"I can't do that. I went through one before...I don't think it's the best idea. Nothing was the same." I explained.

"Was that with Spencer?" he asked. I could hear the jealousy and hatred in his voice when he uttered my ex-boyfriend's name.

"Yes, Beau."

"Spencer and I are different, Teddy. You can't be sure the same thing would happen between you and I. I wouldn't do anything to make you unhappy." he said.

"It's not just that. I just don't like having a long-distance relationship with anybody." I explained.

"Well that's all I got. I'm not gonna try to change your mind. You made your decision." he said, sounding defeated.

"Thank you. And, I'm really sorry, Beau. We could still be friends, right?"

"Yes, sure! I'm not going to be mad at you, Teddy."

I loved it how he said my name...

Stop it, Teddy! I'm breaking up with this guy now!

"Awesome. Remember, just friends." I said.

I don't know if I was pointing that 'just friends' part to him or myself.

"Well, bye then." he said.

"Bye." I said, concluding the call.

I then sat back in the couch and sighed, really loudly.

It was great to finally get one confusing relationship off my chest.

Just one more to go.
