Chapter 31: My Drama Queen
Gabe POV:
It's just been a couple of days since we landed in Florida. Things have been slow, we haven't been doing much vacationing, though.
PJ and I had to help Dad fix up his office for it to open next week.
Teddy has been in one of her sad moods lately.
Only one good thing happened: We got wifi.
I never used my phone all morning...what a shocker. I grabbed it off my bed as soon as I entered our room.
I put it on and my eyes widened at the sight of what was on the screen.
28 MISSED CALLS
I unlocked my phone and saw they were all from Lauren. I grunted at that thought.
There were a couple messages from her as well. I played one...
"Gabe, where are you?"
And another.....
"I thought we could go to the movies today!?"
The messages were getting angrier and unruly by the minute. I really don't want to know what she may be thinking now. So, I didn't even bother to return her calls.
--------------------------------------
We were just starting to have dinner in our so called 'dining room'. Dad was still trying to persuade Mom into liking this place, but she's insisting on getting a hotel room for two months. Basically, they're having a mini-debate during dinner.
The whole family was here, eating leftover pizza on the table except for Toby and Teddy. Toby is taking a nap but Teddy has been busy with her laptop all day. I haven't seen her exit her bedroom for hours.
Out of nowhere, PJ's cellphone started to ring.
"Hello?" he managed to say through munches.
"Who?" he asked.
His eyes then met mine and I somewhat had an idea of who it was.
"It's for you." he said, handing over the phone. "If I were you, I won't have that conversation here."
I got up and entered my room, wishing I could hang up the phone and go back to eating old, cheesy pizza.
"Hello..." I muttered.
"WHERE ARE YOU!?" she screeched.
"In Florida." I answered.
It took her a little while to reply back, "FLORIDA!?" she exclaimed.
"Dad's job got moved here so-" I was cut off.
"You're moving!?"
"No. Well, I don't know as yet, but I'm sure to tell you that time."
She pretty much ignored what I just said and continued, "WHY DIDN'T YOU TELL ME ABOUT THIS?"
"I thought I didn't have to." then I regretted my words right after that.
She non stop ranted over the phone about how horrible a boyfriend I am to her.
"I don't remember you being like this." I said.
"Same goes for you." she said back. I wasn't quite sure that sentence made sense but I completely understood her.
"I was always like this."
"I thought we were in a great relationship." she softly said.
"We were." I replied.
"I guess it takes time to understand and accept each other's true colours." she explained, quieter.
"Yeah."
"I guess it's-" she started.
"Over. Yes it is." I ended.
"Bye, Gabe." she said and I hung up the phone, half of me relieved, the other half confused with what I should do now.
She is a Dabney, I can't believe I thought she was different. My instincts were completely wrong.
Now it's come to an end, I don't have to worry about my drama queen anymore.
