"Flukes happen. Once in a life time is a real saying. One in a million. One, just one. Not two. When two flukes happen, twice in two years... that can't be coincidental, can it? Hayden wasn't my only one-day relationship. Just a year ago, Brennan, you broke my heart. You asked me out one night in July, over text message. And eleven-year-old me had this stupid huge crush on you. I was just sitting on my bed, and my phone lit up with a text from "Brennan". The last time you had texted me was 2014. I sighed and read the message. "Will you go out with me?" I blinked a few times, this had to be fake. No way. No way, I had dreamed of this for almost a year. I slid open my phone, "Yes! Thanks Brennan I'm so excited!" I typed quickly, hopping off my head and squealing and jumping around my room. "Ok, me too," you replied. "When?" I managed, but I was beyond excitement. "Tomorrow, say you're coming over to see katie. We can hang in the backyard." You texted. I had been trembling out of shock, this was nothing more than fantasy minutes before. I couldn't believe my crush liked me. "Okay, see you tmr." I typed. "Bye." I hugged my phone yo my chest and danced around the room. It was eleven at night, so I went straight to sleep. I was convinced I needed my rest for my big date tomorrow. But when I woke up, my whole world shattered. "Sorry Annie, that was just a dare. We're two years apart it's not like we're actually gonna date." Was what appeared on my phone when I check it the next morning. A dare. You ruined me because of some stupid dare, Brennan. It was obvious I liked you, and you thought you'd play with my feelings. I'm over it now, I stopped liking Brennan a week-or-so after. I could understand if this happened once, a one day relationship. But then came Hayden. We know how that ended. So I kept thinking. Twice boys had broken up with me after saying the liked me or wanted to go out with me. Was there something wrong with me? You manipulated my mind into picking apart every flaw I had. If you had just avoided the entire thing, I wouldn't have questioned myself. Things happen once. Hayden should have been it, once. But you made it twice."
