"Okuda's not in today either?"

"No. I last saw her a week ago."

"Does anyone have her number?"

The questions were becoming more frequent as the days ticked by. She had been absent for at least seven days, and since her house was unknown to all in the class, there was no way of checking. That meant she was presumed ill – very ill. Okuda had never missed a day of school, which you supposed might have been because of Karma.

True to your word, the miniature scientist was dead.

Snuffed out like a candle.

"Class, I have some news." Koro-Sensei arrived, gazing at his students solemnly.

They waited in apprehension, neither knowing what to expect, nor how to react. It was as if nobody breathed – the room was gravely silent.

"Manami Okuda was found dead last night, with her throat slit. It seems her cause of death was extreme blood loss." He finally informed.

There was no movement; only short, horrified gasps. It was so much worse than anyone could have anticipated. Anyone other than Karma, who sat there with his usual expression, although he felt extremely guilty. Due to wanting more information on his admirer (and presumably Okuda's killer), he had refrained from showing the letter you had written.

In fact, after that note, there had been no more. Your writing ceased, and Karma was left with a sense of deprivation. As much as he didn't agree with your rationality, he wanted those letters.

He just wasn't sure why.

The first few lessons passed by without incident; students were much quieter than usual, though that was to be expected. There was a depressing atmosphere to the once jovial classroom. It was so oppressive that Karma had to escape.

He sat on a fallen tree, pondering your last letters, all the while biting his nail impatiently.

Surely it had to be someone from Class E – he didn't know anyone that could possibly have such strong feelings towards him in either buildings, but it was unlikely that someone from the main campus would be in love with an End Class reject. Much less since they would be caught sneaking the letters to their off-campus building.

No-one from classes on the main campus would dare make that journey.

So, it obviously had to be someone from his class; someone that he saw every day; that he possibly conversed with. It was a frightening prospect, but one that he would have to consider.

"Hayami...no. Kayano – she likes Nagisa. Nakamura? No..."

"Karma?"

He jolted at the sudden voice, nearly falling off the tree. Turning towards you, his eyes locked on your lively figure. Pushing away his negative thoughts for a moment, he was moderately glad for the distraction.

"You looked upset, and I couldn't find you in the classroom." Your features contorted into those of concern.

Coughing, he attempted to masquerade his deep-rooted suspicions. There wasn't a hope in hell that such a bright, beauteous young woman would fall for a sadistic maths geek.

And besides, what reason would you have to be a Yandere?

"Just clearing my head." He replied, cautiously.

You nodded. "I understand. I'm still trying to get over it, too."

Sitting beside him, you stared out to the horizon, feeling a tremendous amount of luck. After all this time, you were talking to him, seated next to him – and he wasn't pushing you away!

He hadn't filed a restraining order yet!

Which meant that he hadn't figured out your little secret. You gifted him a convincing melancholy smile, which he returned.

"You were close, weren't you?" He inquired, leaning back slightly.

"Oh, yes! She was a great friend. Her passing really affected me." You answered, sitting forwards.

Karma closed his eyes, listening out for the sound of birds and other animals that could have been lurking. At the same time, he kept half an eye on you, to ensure your safety.

He was used to danger, but you weren't.

That was what he believed, anyway, and the tree you were sat on was tilting over a cliff.

"I'm sorry."

Gazing at him with a forlorn expression, you raised your eyebrows in question. It took some time, but he eventually elected to reveal the contents of the anonymous letters.

Perchance you could help him unravel their mysteries, and conslusively unmask Okuda's murderer.
