Because my friend wanted another update and is really impatient ;) HI JOE!
-----------------------------
I was practically shaking like a leaf when I heard a car pull up into the drive. I knew who it was going to be and I really didn't want to open the door.
I didn't want to open it.
I didnt want to.
I wasn't going to.
I wasn't going.
A fist pounded on the door and I jumped in fright as the front door vibrated on the impact. I was currently on the floor behind the sofa, my head between my knees, clutching my legs with my arms to prevent myself from shaking any more. It didn't make much of a difference.
I didn't want to go.
He couldn't make me.
He couldn't, could he?
His fist whacked against the door again and I murmured timidly, squeezing my eyes shut.
"Don't make this difficult, Megan!" He called and shivers ran up my spine. It definitely wasn't in a good way. "Just open the door."
I shuffled across the floor, slightly closer to the door, but I couldn't bring myself to open it.
He wouldn't kick the door down, would he?
He wouldn't drag me across the floor, would he?
Tears prickled my eyes as he banged on the door again.
"I know you're in there! I know you weren't at college. Don't make this any more difficult. I don't want to hurt you." He lowered his voice at the last sentence, almost genuine, and it gave me more courage to scuttle to the bottom of the front door.
My voice was shaky but I swallowed to try and control myself. "Please dont make me go." I squeaked, looking at the ground, wishing for it to gobble me up and never spit me back out. I wanted it to be a few hours ago. I wanted it to be where I didn't know anything about Kai's family and me and Adam would be upstairs watching a film. I didn't want this pain.
"Megan, you said you'd help me. He's my brother. Don't you understand?" He slapped the door and I jumped at the noise.
"Kai, please dont make me do this." I whimpered back.
"Open the door, beautiful." He said softly and I could hear his voice at the keyhole.
I swallowed and thought for a moment. I really didn't want to open it, knowing I'd regret it, but I was only denying the inevitable. There was no one who could help me.
"Come on, gorgeous. I just need your help. You'd do the same if you had a sibling in trouble." I heard him place his head on the door with a soft tap. "I need you to do this for me. I promise, I just need you to identify them."
"Will this be over if I tell you who they are?" I squeaked, shuffling onto my knees so that I could look through the keyhole. I could see his waist as he stood, leaning towards the front door. He sounded so exhausted that I wondered whether he'd slept any better than I had.
"Once I find out who they are then I'll take it from there and you can go home, I promise. Please, beautiful. Do it for me. I need my brother to be safe. You understand, right? Do you understand?"
I sniffed and pulled myself up, my hand on the door. I was in two minds whether to open it but I knew that I'd have to anyway. I couldn't hide from him forever. Anyway, he said it would be over after I identified the thugs who did this to his brother. Surely I was just helping the police by doing this.
