Epilog III

Aku membuka mataku perlahan. Cahaya matahari sedikit banyak menyilaukan pandanganku. Aku segera bangkit. Aku memerhatikan keadaan sekitar bilik yang menempatkan aku. Cat dinding biru lembut, menyamankan suasana. Bunga lavender diatas meja sisi kelihatan masih segar dan seperti baru sahaja ditukar. Sebuah radio juga diletakkan di atas meja sisi itu. Ketika itu juga, seorang doktor wanita masuk ke dalam.

"Doktor Christine," ucapku dan saat itu aku sedar suaraku serak bagai sekian lama tidak bercakap.

"Awak dah bangun. Syukurlah. You've been comma for a week you know." Aku terkejut daripada pernyataannya itu.

Apa yang aku ingat, aku dah sampai kat pulau Banggi namun tiada sesiapa di situ dan akhirnya aku pengsan tidak sedarkan diri.

"Don't push yourself too much. Awak dah selamat sekarang." Doktor muda itu tersenyum dan menyentuh bahuku.

"S-saya kat mana sekarang ni?" Soalku.

"Hospital Queen Elizabeth Kota Kinabalu. Kami dah pindahkan awak kat sini." Sekali lagi dia tersenyum.

"Awak rehat dulu. Family awak ada datang tadi, tapi awak masih belum bangun so mereka akan datang lagi. Mungkin lewat petang sikit. Awak tidurlah dulu. Apa-apa, awak tekan je butang hijau ni."

Dia keluar, meninggalkanku.

Aku membuang pandangan ke luar tingkap. Bandar Kota Kinabalu sentiasa sibuk seperti hari-hari sebelum ini. Seperti tiada yang berlaku.

"Kontroversi mengenai wabak misteri yang tersebar di daerah Kudat adalah palsu." Pesanan daripada penyampai radio singgah di telingaku.

Aku tertawa sendiri. Memang aku dah gila agaknya.

"Okey, sekarang kita dengar lagu di tangga ke 4. Home oleh Machine Gun Kelly, X Ambassador dan Bebe Rexha."

3rd person POV

Sempadan Kudat-Kota Marudu, 6 Januari 2017, 11 malam.

Dua orang askar mendaki tangga ke atas tembok besi. Ketika itu apabila salah seorang askar itu melihat ke bawah tembok, beberapa pasang tangan menarik tubuhnya. Berpuluh-puluh, beribu-ribu Infected memanjat antara satu sama lain untuk mencapai naik ke atas. Malah ada yang telah sampai.

Rakannya yang seorang lagi terkejut dan terus berlari ke menara amaran. Amaran dibunyikan.

"They have breached the wall! We are under attack--"

Mikrofon terjatuh.
