The alley was as dark as the night that painted the sky.
It would be impossible to see what was truly going on. It would be impossible for a simple passerby to actually see what was going down in the alleyway.
It would be impossible to see the group of thugs holding up a pair of women with weapons held against their throats as some of the men went through their purses while others ripped off the women's jewelry.
"You boys sure as hell need to learn a lesson about how to treat women." A female's voice called from above the thugs and the innocent women. A silhouette from on top of a fire escape was staring down at them.
"Get the fuck out of here or you're fucking dead." One thug said shooting a warning shot towards the form but they didn't even flinch. Sparks erupted when the bullet hit the metal of the fire escape, illuminating the face of the figure to show the face of a women, her mouth and nose covered by a black face mask.
"You stole my line." The figure said as the ground began to shake below them.
None of the men on the ground moved but the woman on the fire escape jumped down landing in the middle of the men.
One of her hands burst into flames and she swung it roughly at the man who'd shot at her. The man was sent flying down the alley way hitting into a dumpster, knocking him out.
"Whose next?" She asked the flames illuminating her slightly menacing appearance. Two men ran off scared screaming, while another two stayed back. One was holding the innocent woman against the wall and the other holding a metal rod brought it down swinging at the figure. She wasn't expecting it and the rod hit her right in the head causing her to drop to the ground.
"Fuck you." The girl hissed from the ground as she staggered standing up. The man dropped the rod in shock before the figure threw her hand out and the man was thrown by some unknown force into the wall, causing him to go unconcious. The man who had been holding onto the innocent girl dropped his weapon and ran away screaming.
"Get home quickly." The masked woman said gently as she leaned against wall panting. The women said nothing in return but ran away fast.
"You should have been more aware of your surroundings."
This voice came from deeper in the alley but within an instant the woman knew who it was.
"Really Fury?" The figure said turning her head and letting her first glow in flames again illuminating the alleyway so she could see the man. Her head was pulsating, she did not have the patience to deal with the eye patched wearing man.
He had been after her for quite some time, he wanted to recruit her on to his stupid team and no matter how much she said no he never listened.
"Kelsey we could help-"
"Look Fury. I know what you're going to say and the answer is no."
"Blackburn you've got amazing abili-"
"Let me stop you right there. First tell your archer up on the roof to lower his weapon because if he attacks me I've got just cause to fight back." Kelsey started pointing upwards, the man had given himself away when he had accidentally kicked a can on the roof just before she'd jumped down to fight the gang.
"Stand down Barton."
"And second, I am not going to join your damn team. I am a fucking monster not some damn hero like you think I am and I am not someone you want to be on any fucking team if you actually knew what I am."
"Blackburn if you actually used your brain and just listened to me for once then you would actually know what I am asking you." Fury said his tone much harsher than before.
"Sorry Fury. But me using my head does not happen much if ever. And I don't want to hear about this stupid Avengers Initiative of yours anymore. I'm tired of it, so shove the damn thing up your ass and leave me alone." Kelsey said a flame lighting in her palm to illuminate her face which was hard as stone. Wind began to pick up around the two and as Fury shielded his eye from swept up dust the masked woman was gone flying high up into the air.
"Clint." Fury said and without another word the archer on the roof had lined up a shot and released an arrow into the air. But the arrow stopped only five feet in front of him refusing to move even a centimeter more.
"This is my last warning for you, don't test me, Fury." The woman's voice called down to the two of them and the woman disappeared into a ball of fire.
-Apartment-
After my last words I'd let my flames engulf me, bringing me back to my house on the opposite side of time. I stood on top of the candle I kept lit when I wasn't in the apartment. My feet hovering over the flame jumping off it I landed with a thump on the floor. Flicking my wrist the blinds over the kitchen sink went down and my lights clicked on.
Pulling off the face mask, I threw it to the ground along with my gloves and leather jacket I wore. Walking across the room I sat down on the arm of the chair and began the painstakingly annoying task of getting out of my lace up boods. I always kept them on tight in order to fight better so it was a hastle to get them off.
Looking up I saw as manila envelope was slid under my front door. The black stamp on it said everything, it was the S.H.I.E.L.D. insignia.
Sighing I stood up and walked over to the file picking up and opening it up. Pulling out the papers in it the first words I saw were Steve Rogers.
