Weeks had passed since Kelsey had joined the Avengers.
And for the most part nothing really happened. Kelsey maintained her routine of staying at her library during the day and at night going out to clean the rubble/aftermath of the battle. There were a few times when she did go to Stark Towers in order to train with Natasha or Steve in order to get ready for missions.
Thor had only come back to New York only to inform the team that Loki was secure in the prison back on Asgard when he had met Kelsey. And the very next day he was gone, returning to his home world to do whatever he did back there.
Kelsey had tried sticking to her word and giving Tony as much of a second chance as she could muster. Though he did get on her nerves, she actually enjoyed getting to spend time bugging him in return. He was still quite a prick but she definitely able to tolerate if not enjoy his presence.
Today, Kelsey had allowed herself to be dragged by Steve to Stark Towers where most of the team was relaxing on one of the unaffected floors as construction workers were busy with the other ones.
The whole team were pretty much just lounging around, Tony had on some stupid movie that he was really just using as background noise while fiddling away on his computer working on improvements for his suits. Bruce was reading a physics book, Steve was reading a book of his own and Kelsey could have sworn it was Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone but without the cover, much to her happiness. Clint was working on his bow and Natasha had handed out other tablets to the whole team showing them the assignments.
In less than a week Kelsey and the rest of the team were going on a mission. Her first official mission with the team. And their target was HYDRA.
Kelsey knew HYDRA all too well, they had been after her for a long long time. They'd been trying to recruit her since even before SHIELD had. She knew that they did human experimentation and she did not trust their intentions one bit.
The team would be going to one of their bases to gather intel as much as they could. It was supposed to be one of their older bases that was not as important but was still functioning. Apparently, it was in the mountain range of Austria and they wanted the mission to be stealthier than anything else.
Looking down at her watched she realized it was actually close to six in the evening and the day had passed by.
"I'll see you guys later. I'm going to go back to my apartment." Kelsey said cracking her neck slightly. Standing up she stretched slightly before putting the mission report on the table.
"Why don't you just move in already Kels, you spend more time here on the couch here than you do at your apartment?" Tony asked teasingly.
"Because it's nice not to live in a building filled with five testosterone monsters and don't get me started on the B.O. I mean holy shit guys has no one heard of a shower here?" Kelsey said laughing slightly as she pinched her nose jokingly.
"I don't know how Nat can deal with the smell, if I had room in my apartment I'd let her live with me instead of being stuck here." Kelsey smiled slipping on her sneakers.
"We could share your bed." Natasha called from over by the bar.
"We could indeed, but there is not enough closet space for the two of us there is barely enough for me."
"Ooooh that's a deal breaker."
The two women laughed together and Kelsey started to leave the living room, when Steve stood up calling to her.
"Kelsey, why don't I walk you home? It's getting dark after all." He asked causing her to stop in her place.
"I'll be fine, thanks Stevie that was sweet of you to ask." Kelsey smiled only for it to be dropped a second later.
"What did you call me?" Steve asked his face molded in confusion.
"S-Steve, yeah I called you Steve, I mean what else would I call you? Anyway, I gotta go."
Her face turned bright red and she quickly made her way out onto the balcony.  Steve and the rest of the team called after her in curiosity. Jumping over the balcony, Kelsey heard everyone scream for her in fear, all of them rushing onto the balcony. Kelsey floated back into sight with a smirk on her face.
"Did you guys really forget I could fly?" Kelsey asked with a smile, relief dawning on the faces of her teammates.
"See you guys later."
And with her words Kelsey turned flying away as fast as she could to get back to her apartment.

It took only a matter of minutes to get close to her apartment dropping out of the air into an alleyway. Fixing her clothes Kelsey slowly walked out of the alleyway making sure to check that no one had actually seen her. Once she was sure that the coast was clear Kelsey quickly made her way to the front steps of her apartment.

Walking to the small five story brick apartment complex, Kelsey entered the building quickly making her way up to the fourth floor where she and only one other tenant lived. The whole building had maybe seven people living in the building two on each floor though floors two through five could hold four different tenants. The apartments were of course very small though pretty much only two rooms excluding the bathroom. Most of the people kept to themselves which made everything so much easier.

Especially when she was coming and going at all hours at the night.

Reaching her apartment Kelsey opened the door without realizing that it was supposed to be locked, she closed the door behind her. Finally, Kelsey came to the realization that something was up when she saw her table had been flipped, all the books and movies that had occupied her shelves were thrown all over the place. But before she was able to put up her guard Kelsey felt something hit her in the head knocking her to the ground and stunning her.
