I was writing with this song in the background at the beginning of the chapter so if you like to kind of get a sense of the mood I had in mind for the chapter feel free to listen along as you read.

Kelsey watched mutely as paramedics swooped into Steve's apartment stealing Nick Fury out from underneath her blood-stained hands. She was stuck in her place, all she could see was the haunting image of who had been below her even after he was gone. Fury had been someone who always seemed to be so strong, someone that could never be hurt, never be killed. He always seemed so in control, like nothing could ever hurt him.
And yet...
Squeezing her eyes shut tightly, Kelsey forced herself to suck in a breath which escaped her lips mere seconds later. When she finally willed herself to reopen her eyes, she was no longer on the floor. No, she was staring into an operating room.
How the hell?
You shouldn't freeze up like that, it makes things way too easy.
As the haunting voice echoed around in her head Kelsey felt a wave of pain overload her senses. It was worse than any migraine she had ever experienced before, it made the world spin and her knees turn to jelly. She barely caught herself on the lip of the window when the single note of a flat line echoed loudly through the room. Looking up, Kelsey watched as the doctors scrambled desperately trying to save him.
But.
But...
Nothing
He was gone.
Swallowing the vomit that rose in the back of her throat, Kelsey forced herself to look away taking a step back Steve quickly took her into his arms pressing her into his chest.
"I've got you," was all he said as he wrapped his arms tightly around her, to keep Kelsey from falling to the ground. She wasn't crying or anything, but in the moment, she desperately needed something, someone to help her be grounded and right then and there Steve was the only one who seemed to be able to do it for her. Taking only a moment to attempt to steady herself Kelsey pulled away from Steve's arms doing her best to ignore the looks from everyone in the room: Hill, Natasha, Rumlow.
She couldn't do it.
"I'm... I'm sorry I-I-I can't stay. I-I need to go. Go somewhere else."
Backing out of the room quickly Kelsey turned running down the hallways of the hospital until she found a flight of stairs. Nearly flying up the stairs Kelsey continued to go up until she reached the roof. Forcing the door open, Kelsey managed only to take a few steps forward before dropping to her knees.
Images flashed through her head racing past her eyes. All gut wrenching, vomit inducing bloody disgusting images. All the people she knew, all the people she started to care for dead.
Dead.
Dead.
Dead. Dead.
One by one they'd appear on the ground. Cold and lifeless. Blood pooling around their corpses.
She couldn't breathe. Desperately she heaved trying to get any good breath in but it was impossible. Clawing roughly at her throat and chest, she pulled at her jacket and button up popping a button with the sudden jerk. The clothes pulled away revealing her bra covered chest as she panted painfully her heart thundering against her ribs. Panting and panting gasping desperately for any relief a single tear quickly slid down her cheek before she felt herself snap.
