As the three of them got out of the pickup, Kelsey pulled Steve's shield along with her, handing it off to him before closing the door behind her.
"This is it?" Steve asked Natasha as she pulled out the GPS thing she'd been using to find the place.
"The file came from these coordinates." Natasha said before putting away the tracker as quickly as she took it out. Throwing her arms behind her, Kelsey let her bones crack and muscles stretch looking around the car. They were in the middle of nowhere surrounded by forest with an old military base just past a chain link fence.
"So, did I." Steve said solemnly. Stepping in front of his companions, Steve quickly used his shield to bust open the lock leading the way into the one-time military training camp.
The three quickly made their way into the camp just as the sun began to set over the trees. By the time they reached some of the old abandoned buildings, it was already well after dark.
"This camp is where I was trained." Steve said breaking the long silence that had loomed over the trio
"Change much?" Kelsey asked earnestly falling into step beside the soldier straight out of time.
"No." He retorted softly looking up at an old flag pole getting a glazed over look in his eyes.
"This is a dead end, zero heat signatures, zero waves, not even radio. Whoever wrote the file must've used a router to throw people off." Natasha called from behind the pair pulling Steve straight out of his head and his memories.
Steve turns head, his brows almost instantly furrowing which both Kelsey and Natasha picked up on immediately.
"What is it?" Natasha asked only for Steve to take the lead heading for a random building only a few yards away from where they had just been. Jogging quickly to catch up with the super soldier, Kelsey looked to her friend her expression showing her clear want for an explanation.
"Army Regulations forbid storing ammunition within 500 yards of the barracks, this building is in the wrong place." Steve said stopping directly in front of a cement building that looked like it went underground.
With one swift strike from his shield the lock holding the doors shut snapped open, unlocking the door. Entering the pitch-black bunker behind Steve and Nat, Kelsey quickly snapped her finger causing a small flame to float right above her fingers giving the three just enough light to find the actual power switch which then illuminated the bunker.
The room was a large and open one with rows of desks filling the room and file cabinets and private rooms to the back.
"This, this place is Shield." Kelsey said in awe spotting the SHIELD Insignia on the back wall.
"Maybe where it started." Steve said in response.
The three of them continued on their way through the underground bunker going into the private area behind stained glass windows, Kelsey stopped in the door frame as Steve and Natasha took a few steps forward.
"Stark's father?" Natasha asked looking at the middle of three photos hanging on the wall.
The first was an elderly man in a military uniform, from what Kelsey could tell the man was probably a colonel. The next picture was a man that did indeed bear a striking resemblance to Tony but the man was younger maybe in his mid to late twenties. And the last picture, Kelsey knew instantly, it was Steve's one-time love, the Peggy Carter, just a day ago they'd just seen her and she was much older now, but this picture was taken also when she was also considerably younger. She was beautiful, she looked so strong and very independent. No wonder Steve had fallen in love with her.
