Heart Broken and Alone

Jake Hires Erika to be his assistant, but he forgets to tell her where he lives, they run into each other at the gym, where Jake and Erika find out they are neighbors, but when Erika gets home, she finds her boyfriend, Tyler, being a drunken mess. He then followed Erika up the stairs where he accused her of cheating on him with Jake, Tyler punched Erika in the jaw, she fell down the stairs and passed out, Tyler woke her up apologized, and slept on the couch, Erika cried herself to sleep knowing that everything she felt for Tyler was gone, and that she was in a toxic relationship.

The Next Day

Erika's POV
I woke up hearing the sound of Tyler leaving, and a throbbing pain shooting through the left side of my face, thank god, I didn't want to look at him ever again, but I don't know how I'm going to get out of this relationship safely. My thoughts are cut off by the alarm on my phone telling me to get ready for work, oh shit I have a job better get ready. I walked into the bathroom and turned on the shower, then I saw my face in the mirror, and I fell to the floor and cried, My lower left jaw, and left eye were so purple they looked black. I had to get up and push my feelings aside and get ready for work and try to cover these bruises up. I guess I didn't realize that my eye was so swollen shut until I tried putting my contact in and couldn't, well this is going to be hard to explain to Jake, which excuse should I use, ohh maybe the, I fell down the stairs, nah thats to over used, oh maybe my personal favorite the, I forgot my head piece for kickboxing practice, that one usually works pretty well, clearly this isn't the first time I've had to use an excuse for work, but oh well. SHIT I HAVE TO GET READY FOR WORK.
30 Minutes later

Jake's POV
I hear a knock on the door and open it to see a girl looking down with her hood up. I knew it was Rik because she was wearing a crop top, and I mean I don't know anyone with abs that chiseled. I say hey Rik and she says Hi and keeps her head down I step aside and say come in she obliges and says thanks, at this point I knew something was up she wasn't the same girl I met yesterday. For some reason I felt like I needed to protect her, but I didn't know what i was protecting her from. But I knew something was wrong, so I set it upon myself to find out
J- Rik, is everything alright? You seem a little... down.
E- Umm...yeah I'm fine.
*her voice cracking cause she's so nervous*
J- You know you can talk to me, I know we just met, and I'm technically your boss, but I got a feeling we're going to be great friends so you can trust me.
E- Thanks Jake
*She says as she looks up*
J- Oh god Rik, what the hell happened to you?!

Erika's POV
I really want to tell him, god I want to tell him, but Tyler would kill me, and I don't want Jake to get involved, I can't put my finger on it, but something about Jake makes me feel so warm, and safe, I just want him to stay out of it so he can make everyone feel the way I feel.
E- Well I was at kickboxing and I forgot my head piece and I got my ass handed to me
J- Rik, I'm serious when I say you can trust me.
E- I know I can Jake, but that's what actually happened.
J- I swear if anyone laid a hand on you so help me god, I will kill them.
E- I promise no one did, can we just get the day started?
J- Yea, I guess so.

Jake's POV
I don't know what came over me I felt like I needed to let her know that she was safe with me. I knew that wasn't a kickboxing incident, but she was dead set on avoiding talking about it, and I wasn't going to force her to trust me, I was going to earn her trust.

* A couple months go by, Erika's face heals up, her and Jake are working late nights trying to start a social media empire called Team 10, and Tyler has had enough of her coming home late and leaving the house early, so he has a "talk" with her about it*

@Erika's house
*Erika has come home late from a meeting with Jake again, but this time Tyler was angry, and drunk*
E- Hey Babe, how was your day?
T- WHAT THE FUCK RIK, THIS IS THE 4th TIME THIS FUCKING WEEK, YOU'VE COME HOME FROM BEING OUT WITH THIS ASSHOLE!!
E- I know Ty I'm sorry, Jake and I have been busy trying to find a house for the new team members, and we are trying to get some really big investors to invest in Team 10.
T- DO YOU THINK I GIVE A SHIT RIK, YOU'RE MY GIRL, NOT HIS!!!
*He then slaps Erika*
E- I said I was sorry babe please stop, I swear I'm not cheating on you please just stop
* He slaps her again, this time she falls, he then gets on top of her, and starts ripping articles of clothing off of her, he keeps beating her punching her all over her upper body, at this point Erika is screaming at the top of her lungs, trying to get out of Tyler's grip and Tyler isn't letting go what so ever, but then there is a loud bang on the door and Tyler ignores it, but Erika screams louder, suddenly someone kicks down the door and takes Tyler right off of Erika, it was Jake*
J- RIK RUN!
T- YO WTF YOU KICK DOWN MY DOOR AND TAKE MY GIRL, WE WERE JUST HAVING SOME FU-
* Jake punches the shit out of Tyler before he could finish his sentence, He continues to beat the shit out of Tyler until Erika pulls him off and grabs his hand and they both get out of there*

Half an hour earlier @Jake's House
Jake and Erika where out all day at meetings, it's around 11:30 when they get back to the apartment building, Jake and Erika say there goodbyes and head to there own apartments

Jake's POV
After me and Erika got to the building and said goodnight, I went to my apartment, it's 11:30 on a Tuesday night so I expected everyone to be home and in bed, but I didn't expect there to be 2 people in my bed... It was none other than Alissa and Logan, I was so angry, because I knew something was off, my intuition was right.
J- WTF ALISSA, YOU'RE SLEEPING IN MY BED WITH MY BROTHER HOW COULD YOU DO THIS?!
A- Baby, I'm sorry, I made a mistake please forgive me
L- Bro I'm sorry, she told me she broke up with you earlier today
J- WELL YOU CAN FUCKING HAVE HER SORRY ASS LOGAN, FUCK I'M SO FUCKING ANGRY GOD I NEED A DRINK WITH SOMEONE I ACTUALLY GIVE A FUCK ABOUT
A- Baby we can work this out please don't leave me
J- FUCK YOU I WANT NOTHING TO DO WITH YOUR DUMBASS ALISSA, OH AND I'M MOVING OUT SO FEEL FREE TO STAY AS LONG AS YOU WANT BECAUSE I'M SURE THAT I'LL BE OUT OF HERE BY TOMORROW BYE ALISSA

* Jake slams the door before she could finish talking and grabs his phone, wallet, and a backpack full of clothes, because he definitely isn't staying at his place tonight, he remembers that Erika said she'd be up late writing emails to investors and house shopping for the new house, so he knocked on her door, but when he heard a scream, his protective instincts kicked in and he kicked down the door*

Jake's POV
I heard screams coming from Rik's apartment, and I immediately kicked down the door, I don't know what came over me, but when I saw Rik on the ground, kicking and screaming while some guy with a big body, but short build on top of her, I went nuts, I pulled him off of Rik and told her to run, then I went to town on his ass, I punched him, and I kept punching him until Rik pulled me off of him and we ran out.
We hopped in my truck and drove, and drove until I stopped at my favorite place to clear my head, which I do a lot, but I looked over at Rik and she was beaten up pretty badly, and she was just in her sports bra and shorts and she was shaking really badly, so I got out of the car, grabbed my extra sweatshirt and walked over to her door, opened it, and told her to lift her arms, I saw the pain in her eyes, it made my heart hurt so much, I helped her put the sweatshirt on, and we got out of the truck, I always kept a blanket in my truck, so I grabbed it and took her to the back of my truck gripping onto her hand, wanting to never let go, I opened the gate and helped her climb up into the back, I got in after her and we sat there all cuddled up, then I looked at Rik, she was beaten up really badly, she was still bleeding pretty badly, so I lifted her chin up so we were eye to eye.
J- I'm so sorry this happened to you Rik, just know your safe now, and nothing will ever hurt you again, I promise.
E- It's not your fault Jake, but thank you for getting me out of there.
J- I would do anything for you Rik, I mean like seriously I would take a bullet for you, I haven't felt the way you make me feel ever, not even when I was with Alissa, Rik I think I'm falling in love with you.
E- Jake I lo-
*before she could say it she started coughing up blood, Jake picked her up ran to the side of the car, put her in and started driving, she was coughing up a lot of blood, but she was trying to say something, but Jake said that she shouldn't try to speak, and after he said that she passed out covered in blood, he got to the nearest hospital and ran into the ER with Erika in his arms, they took her from him, and left him standing there covered in her blood,in the middle of ER, worried, heartbroken, and alone.*
