New Years Eve 2014

It was the first time we'd been in a nightclub on New Year's Eve. Yes, technically we were under age, but it wasn't that hard to get hold of fake ID, and looking around I'd guess that most people in here were under 18.

I never had any issue getting into bars and clubs as I looked older than 17. Alex on the other hand was usually stopped. I'd put my arm round him as we approached the bouncer, hoping that he would focus on me instead of Alex. It didn't work and he was stopped and asked for ID. He showed the bouncer his fake ID and we both held our breath. The bouncer stared at it for ages, and I was sure he wasn't going to let us in, until Beth and Jules came running up to us and threw their arms around us in greeting.

Beth and Jules were both hot, and even more so in their mini skirts and tiny tops, that didn't leave much to the imagination. The bouncer, immediately distracted by the girls, waved us though.

"Wow, thanks for that" Alex said to the girls, letting out a sigh of relief.

"Don't worry about it," Jules said, "buy us a drink and we'll call it quits." She said this with a quick wink in my direction. I grinned at her admiring her sassiness. Hmm, maybe she would be my choice tonight. After all, I couldn't be without a girl to kiss when the clock struck midnight.

I know it sounded arrogant to think that I would have a choice, but that's usually what happened. I don't ever remember a time when I actually had to put any effort in. They usually came to me, and when I'd decided which one I wanted to make out with that night, I would throw my arm round them and buy them a drink. That was it. I know that made me sound shallow or lazy, but hey, it worked, so why mess with the system?

Once Jules got her drink off Alex, she blew me a kiss and went off to find her friends.

"I know that look! Are you thinking of going with Jules tonight?" asked Alex with a raised eyebrow.

I knew why his eyebrow was raised. I'd been with Jules before and up until now, I'd never been with the same girl twice.

"I know, I know, I've been with her before," I said, "but that was a while ago, and she didn't mind that I didn't want to call her the next day. She gets the score so maybe I can make an exception to the rule?"

I don't know why I changed that into a question. Maybe I needed some assurance from Alex that going with the same girl twice didn't somehow mean we automatically became a couple or something.

"Fine," said Alex, "but are you sure it's not because you actually like her? And maybe this time you might want to spend time with her outside this place?"

I screwed up my face. See, this was the problem. As soon as you were seen with the same girl twice, people just made assumptions about your feelings.

I started scouring the room. "You're right" I said, "I'll find someone else."

Alex started chuckling smugly. It was almost like he didn't want to me to go with Jules again.

I wonder why? It wasn't like he was into her.

"Seen as you clearly don't think I should go with Jules again, I'm making it your job to find me someone else. Come on wingman, it's time to do your thing...."

Alex blushed slightly and began to stutter something about not caring about who I went with, but I just laughed and pushed him onto the dance floor.

There were two things that made Alex an excellent wingman. The first was his ability to dance. I was hopeless at dancing and avoided the dance floor most of the time. Alex on the other hand would spend most of his night there, so in fact we often didn't speak to each other much on a night out.
