Saturday came round and I was nervous and annoyed. Why was he making things so difficult? If tonight didn't go well, I was ready to accept that maybe we just weren't going to be friends anymore.

I'd already had a few to drink before I left the flat, just to calm my nerves.

I arrived at Bar Vista at 9.30 hoping that Alex was already there. He wasn't, but Lilly was. Probably because I'd texted her that I would be.

Alex didn't arrive till 11.30, and I honestly thought he wasn't coming. When he did show up, he was with a group of guys, some of whom I recognised as being from his college class. He had clearly been out all night, but elsewhere and had probably just come to see how pathetic I was for waiting for him.

So I ignored him, and carried on talking to Lilly and flirting with random passing girls.

I kept an eye on Alex and saw him flirting with one guy in particular. He had strawberry blonde hair, and was tall and athletic looking, like he played rugby or something.

I downed my drink and went to the bar to get another. Next time I looked at Alex, he was making out with the guy, so I downed my drink and went to the bar to get another.

You can imagine how the night played out. I had to imagine it too, because I didn't remember anything else.

The next thing I knew, I woke up at Alex's on the sofa bed, alone.

I sat up and groaned at my throbbing head. I could hear voices coming from the kitchen, and I desperately needed a glass of water, so I headed over that way.

I assumed it would be Alex and his mum, but I was shocked at what I saw. The same guy from last night was stood in Alex's kitchen in just a t-shirt and boxers, chatting to Alex while they made pancakes together.

The whole scene made me want to gag. In fact it did and I ran to the bathroom to hurl.

Alex appeared at the bathroom door with a glass of water in his hand. He chuckled as he handed it to me. "It looks like you need this."

I smiled weakly at him. "Thanks" I said taking a gulp and feeling the liquid soothe my burning throat. "What happened last night?"

Alex laughed lightly. "You making a right dick of yourself is what happened."

I looked at him nervously. What had I done or said?

"Don't worry, it's not like anyone hated your singing. It just got a bit.....high."

I laughed nervously at him, hoping that was the worst of it.

"And then you tried to punch Kyle, but fell flat on your face and passed out."

"Who's Kyle?" I asked.

"My boyfriend" Alex replied. "The one who's downstairs making us breakfast as we speak."

I didn't know what to say. I had just got too much information to process in one go, while being this hungover. So firstly I tried to punch Alex's boyfriend. Does Alex know why I did that? Secondly, I tried to punch a guy who looks like he bench presses cows before breakfast. Will he want to punch me back? And thirdly, Alex has a boyfriend!!

I found myself sinking down onto the floor and put my head in my hands. "Oh god, I'm so sorry" I said.

Alex thankfully still seemed to find it all amusing. "It's not me you need to say sorry to. It was poor Kyle who carried you back here."

And now my humiliation was complete. I just wanted to crawl into a hole and never come out.

Thankfully Kyle seemed to find the whole thing as amusing as Alex did, so I soon found myself relaxing.
