Alex

"Jay!" I shouted as I watched him being dragged off by two pig ugly bouncers with arms that were the width of my waist.

"It's ok Alex, he'll be fine," I heard Kyle say.

I twisted my head back round to glare daggers at him. I thought I would scream and shout at him, or at the very least give him another black eye to match the one that Jay had already given him.

But surprisingly I was calm. That kind of angry calm, when you're beyond pissed off.

"Let's get this straight now," I said to Kyle, "I do not now, nor ever want to get back together with you. Remember that text I sent to you? I sent it by mistake. It was supposed to go to Jay. Yes, Jay. Because believe it or not, I fucking love him. I love him more that you could ever imagine. So please, don't ever speak to me again."

I turned around and started to walk away.

I felt someone grab my arm and I swung round in anger, expecting it to by Kyle looking for a fight.

Sophie flinched back by my sudden movement.

"Oh, sorry I thought you were Kyle." I said, touching her arm in apology.

Sophie smiled. "So you love him then?"

I smiled back. "You already knew that."

"I know, but does Jay know?"

"I don't know, but I'm going to go and find out," I said, heading to the door.

I suddenly stopped, remembering something. "What happened to Adam?"

Sophie shrugged and waved her hand dismissively. "Don't worry about it. Danny took care of it."

I raised my eyebrows at her, but thought it best not to question it further now.

"Thank you," I said.

"We've always got your back Alex," she said, "now go and get your man!"

I smiled at her and gave her a quick wave as I ran out the door.

It didn't take me long to find Jay. But that didn't mean I wasn't relieved when I saw him.

I wanted to run over and throw my arms around him, but the cold night air had sobered me up and taken away some of my confidence.

So I opted for just sitting next to him on the bench and placing my hand on his thigh.

Jay looked over at me, and I gasped when I saw his cheek.

"What happened?" I asked, taking his face in my hands so I could get a closer look.

"That neanderthal on the front door did it," Jay said with a wry smile.

"I'm sorry," I said, resisting the urge to kiss it better.

"It's not your fault," Jay said, looking down at his hands.

"And it's not yours either," I said.

Jay said nothing, but he was still sat, shoulders hunched, staring at his hands.

The park was dark aside from a few street lamps giving off a dim orange glow. We weren't sat far from the road, and I could hear faint music coming from a small bar across the street.

"We should have just had a Die Hard marathon at mine," I said, and watched the corners of Jay's mouth tug up a little.

"You know I'd have loved that, but it isn't fair of me to expect you to put your life on hold, just because I can't drink."
