Spring break starts today. I'm taking Liza, Ester, Sarah, and Toby on a little vacation. We're going to the zoo for Toby, since I know he has a new obsession with lions. The Hollywood sign and the Hollywood walk of fame for Sarah and Ester, since I know they like old-ish famous people. I'm taking Liza on a fancy date once we get back. Liza and I have been sitting on the floor on our phones since we woke up this morning, which was like 20 minutes ago. Mom helped me back the kid's bags so we don't have to worry about it. Liza lays on her back and starts singing this little tune while tapping her feet on the floor.

"Do do do deeee dooo doooooooo bababababababa." She sings and I smile.

"That was a great song, babe." I say and she glares at me.

"Don't mock me." She puts her phone on her stomach and stares up at the ceiling.

"I'm not mocking you." I say and stand up.

"Yeah, sure." She playfully says and I help her stand up.

"We better get on the road. We got plans today." I say and she nods.

"I know. You told me last night." She grabs her tiny backpack and I grab my phone. I get our bag and go to the car, I put the kids' bags in last night. I go back inside and run up to Toby's room. I open the door quickly and swoop up Toby from his bed.

"Ahhh! David! What are you doing?!" He yells as I run down the stairs and out the door.

"We're going somewhere special!" I say and he laughs as I place him in his car seat.

"I don't even have my shoes!" He says and wiggles his sock covered feet.

"Ugh, I'll go get them." I playfully say and tickle his stomach. I go to his room and grab his shoes. Since I'm already upstairs, I run into Ester and Sarah's room to get them.

"Ahh! David, what are you doing?" Easter says and I smile.

"We are going on an adventure. Get your shoes, jacket, phone, and phone charger." I say and quickly leave before she can say anything else. I go back downstairs with Toby's shoes and out to the car.

"Where is Ester and Sarah?" Toby asks when I finish putting his shoes on his feet.

"They're coming." I say and close him door. I go around to the drivers side and get in.

"What about Liza?" He asks and I nod.

"I forgot about her... Don't tell her I did, she'll kill me." I say and Toby giggles.

"I can't promise that!" He says and I smile.

"I'll be right back. Here." I hand him my phone that's open to some coloring game.

"Thank you." He says and I get out of the car. I go inside to the living room to see Liza sleeping on the couch. I left her alone for 5 minutes... how is she sleeping?

"Babe, come on. It's time to leave." I say and she shuffles.

"Hmmm." She hums and I smile.

"We can do this your way and you can get up, or we can do this my way." I say and she shuffles again.

"Hmmm, 5 more minutes." She says and I kiss her head.

"Ok, looks like we're doing this my way." I say and pick her up. She opens her eyes and panics before realizing what's happening.

"Ah! What are you doing?" She says and I open the car door. I put her down and kiss her nose.

"We're going on an adventure." I say and close the door. I see her smile and slowly shake her head through the window. Ester and Sarah run outside together with smiles across their faces.

"Are we leaving?" Sarah asks and I nod. They get in the car and I go inside to say goodbye to mom. After I say goodbye, I grab my phone from Toby and get into my seat.

"Let's go on an adventure!" Toby yells with his fists in the air.

"Yaaaay!" Sarah says and I start the car. We drive down the street and make a left turn onto the main road.

"I'm hungry." Toby says and I nod.

"I knew you would say that. We can swing by Jack in the box and get something." I say and Toby smiles.

"Ok!" He says happily.

We drive to Jack in the box and order our food. We keep driving for about 20 minutes of silence before Liza breaks it.

"Do they know where we're going?" She asks and I shake my head.

"Only that we're going to be gone for 2 days." I say and she nods.

"2 days as in today and tomorrow?" She asks and I nod.

"Yeah, we'll drive back home Tuesday morning." I say and she smiles.

"Ok." She turns the radio up and Sarah smiles at the song thats being played, 'You Belong With Me' by Taylor Swift.

"I love this song!" Sarah says and starts dancing like a dork. The song ends and she frowns. 'Someone Like You' by Adele comes on and Liza's face lights up. She starts singing and dancing weirdly and I laugh as she does.

"I hate to turn up out of the blue uninvited, but I couldn't stay away, I couldn't fight it. I'd hoped you'd see my face and that you'd be reminded that for me it isn't over...." she sings dramaticly and I smile as she does.

"It's over?" She asks and I smile, going along with what she's doing.

"Yeah." I say and she dramaticly turns away.

"Nevermind I'll find, someone like you too. Don't forget me, I beg, I remember you said, 'sometimes it lasts in love, but sometimes it hurts instead." She sings dramaticly again and I laugh. She sings the rest of the song normally and Toby claps at the end.

"That was a funny show, Liza." He says and she smiles.

"Thank you, Toby." She says smiling.

"Yeah I liked it." Sarah says and she smiles again. She grabs my hand, interlocking our fingers, and leans her seat back.

"I'm gonna take a nap, wake me when we get somewhere." She says and pulls our hands up to her chest.

"Ok, but I need my other hand." I say and she groans before letting it go.

"Can I borrow one of your sweatshirts?" She asks and I nod.

"Yeah, there's one in that bag." I point to a bag at her feet and she opens it. She pulls out my sweatshirt and puts it on. She curls up and closes her eyes.

"Wake me later." She says and I smile.

"Ok. Goodnight, sweetheart." I say and she smiles.

"Goodnight, bubba." She says and falls asleep. We drive about an hour more and stop at a gas station.

"Can I wake Liza?" Toby asks and I shake my head.

"No. She doesn't need to be awake, we're not going inside." I say and get out of the car. I will up the tank and get back in the car to see Toby poking Liza's arm.

"Liza." He whisper and she shuffles.

"Toby, no. She can sleep for a little longer. How about you try and sleep, ok?" I say and he nods.

"Ok, I'll try. It might not work, but I'll try." He says and grabs the blanket I put on the floor this morning. He curls up and falls asleep.

Now I have no one to talk to... oh well.
