David and I had to wake up at 6am so we can go back home today. It's about 7am and we've been driving for an hour. David's driving and I keep wanting to fall asleep, but I can't.
"I can't fall asleep." I say and sit straight in my chair.
"How come?" David asks and I shrug.
"I dunno." I look out my window and the sun is just coming up.
"Weird." He says and grabs my hand from off my leg.
"Can we get something to eat?" I ask and he nods.
"Sure. Where do you want to go?" He looks over at me and I shrug.
"IHOP?" I point out my window to an IHOP building.
"Sure." He says as we pull into the parking lot and try to find a parking space. For a Monday morning, it's really crowded. We go inside and wait for a table to open up.
"Can we go to my house? Instead of your house?" I ask and David nods.
"Sure, but how come?" He asks.
"Because yesterday mom told me to get her something from San Francisco and I have to break the news to her that I didn't get her anything. I feel like it's rude to do it over the phone." I say and David smiles.
"Sure." He says and kisses my temple. The lady at the front calls David's name and takes us to our table. We get seated and look at the menu.
"I'm in a weird mood." I say and flip the plastic page in my menu over.
"How?" He asks and I shrug.
"I don't know, I just feel tired and awake and jumpy and silly and, like, bored." I say and David tilts his head.
"Weird." He says and keeps looking at his menu.
"I just wanna jump on the table and dance but I also want to go crawl into a hole and sleep for ages." I say and David laughs.
"Why?" He asks stills smiling.
"I don't know!" I say and giggle.
"Well let's eat and see how you feel after that." He says and I nod. We order our food and finish about an hour later. We kept talking about random stuff while we ate so it look longer then ussual. We go back out to the car and I still feel the same way I did before.
"I'm still in a weird mood." I say and David nods.
"Ok. I'll take you to a park and you can go run around there to get your energy out and then sleep the rest of the way home." He says and pulls out of the parking space.
"But that's the thing, I don't want to sleep the rest of the way home cause then you'll be alone. I want to talk to you." I say and he smiles.
"That's sweet baby, but if you want to sleep I'm fine with being alone." He says looking over at me and smiling again.
"No. I wanna stay up." I says as we park on the street next to a park. The park isn't a playground park, it's kinda like a baseball park.
"Ok. Well lets go run around for a little while. We got nothing but time." He turns off the car and quickly jumps out. I open my door and let my legs hang out over the side. He runs around in the grass and acts like a 4 year old. I watch him and smile at how happy he looks just running around.
"Babe if you waste all your energy you're gonna fall asleep at the wheel!" I yell and he stops.
"No I'm not! Come on!" He yells and keeps running around. I slowly start walking to him and he waits eagerly.
