"Ester why would you say that?!"
"I'm sorry I though you told mom already!"
"No! That's why Liza doesn't come over when mom is home!"
"I said I was sorry!!"
I run into my room and slam my door. The reason I'm so mad is I'm not allowed to have a girlfriend. My grades go down, I come home late, I get distracted, and I'm never home. I lay on my bed staring at the ceiling.
"Can I come in David?" Toby opens my door and sticks is head through the small gap he made.
"Yeah sure."
"Why are you made at Ester?"
"Because she told mom about Liza when I needed to."
"But why do you need to?"
"Cause I'm not allowed to date anyone."
"Then why are you dating Liza?"
"Because she's a beautiful, funny, and amazing women."
Toby lays next to me and puts his head on my stomach. It stays silent for a minute and Toby jumps up and runs out my door.
"Toby where are you are going?"
"I'll be back in a minute!"
I wait for about 10 minutes and Toby comes back with my computer.
"Toby you know your not allowed to touch my computer."
"FaceTime mama!"
"What? Why?"
"Cause I forgot she wanted to talk you, but you fell asleep to fast last night."
I sit up and take the computer from Toby, setting it on the bed.
I FaceTime mom and she answers almost immediately.
"Hey sweetheart."
"Hi Mom. Toby said you needed to talk to me."
"I do, Ester told me you have a girlfriend. You aren't allowed to date and you know why."
"Mom I'm 17 and I'm a senior now. I can have a girlfriend."
"I don't want your grades to go down! And your siblings need you David."
"Ok! Can I continue dating li- this girl.. if I promise to keep my grades up and not be out as much?"
"You have 1 month. If our grades are down at any point and your not home enough, your not going to be seeing her anymore."
"Fine."
"That's all I needed to say. Bye sweetie, love you."
"Bye, love you to." I hang up and close my computer.
"Are you gonna tell Liza about what mama said?" Toby jumps up on the bed and sits next to me.
"I have to, if my grades go down I need her to help me."
"David I'm hungry."
"Then let's go make some lunch."
"Can I have ice cream?! Please!!"
"No Toby you need to eat something that will fill you up, not make you sick." We walk into the kitchen and Toby starts rummaging through the pantry.
"Can I have....umm.... This?" Toby holds up a package of Instent Lunch noodles and I nod.
"Sure." I fill it with water and put it in the microwave. While it's microwaving, Toby sings a song.
