First of all, I wanted to speak on this because this seems to be an issue that's been going on recently. There's been a lot of debate and arguments so I'm adding my two cents. Agree to disagree.

If you don't know her, her name is Amara Le Negra. As you can see, she is a black woman. But there's something else interesting about her: she's Latina. She's a Dominican.

"But wait, she doesn't look Dominican." Well, the gag is sweetie, them mfs are black too. They might look different but the vast majority of them are just some light skinned, Spanish speaking black people. There are still ignorant ppl in this world who do not gasp this concept.

On Love and Hip Hop Miami, some irrelevant, non career having ass producer made a total of 21 offensive comments to this beautiful black queen about being Afro-Latina. On the Breakfast Club, Charlemagne the Goddess made ignorant comments that being a darkskin Latina and dealing with the criticism is "made up in her head." Cardi B's lil sister pretty much told Amara that she's being delusional. "We're all black. We're all fighting the same struggle. Don't make this a light skin thing."

Well, I love Cardi but her sister needs to stfu. I used to have this similar mentality until I was enlightened on the fragility of this way of thinking. Light skin privilege exists, period. It's not even just a black thing. It happens commonly amongst Asians as well. People bring it up because it APPLIES.

There are no Afro-Latinas who look like Amara. Only ones that look like J-Lo or somebody. There is a lack of representation period. There are plenty of darkskin Afro-Latinas, so why aren't they getting their shine??

I hate the way people treat her. This is that terrible mentality that causes ppl to damage themselves and have deeply rooted self-esteem. For instance, Lil Kim. Yes, I know she got surgery to fix the damage from abusive relationships. She also suffered from low self-esteem by the way she was treated for being darker and not having European features. That shit takes a toll on people.

This is coming from a light skin woman herself. Don't try to drag me and act like I don't know. Don't front like I'm trying to portray light skins in a bad light. I'm just bringing shit to the forefront. It is what it is.

I have obvious African features. No, I do not have white grandparents or great-grandparents or great great grandparents. I don't look racially ambiguous or "exotic" like most light skins do. I have super thick, super kinky Afro textured hair. I do have a lil sass and spunk, which gets me the angry black woman stereotype a lot. That within itself is a struggle amongst the black community.

Me saying that doesn't mean that darkskin women won't have a harder time being accepted by the community. It doesn't deny their struggles either. It's real. It happens. And it's wrong. 100%

^if anyone is confused, I just wanted to show that I don't benefit from light skin/pretty privilege but I can say that WITHOUT dismissing the struggles of darker people. Me saying that I don't benefit from pretty privilege doesn't mean African features are ugly. It's just not the "beauty standard"

It's not that hard y'all. It's not that hard to comprehend. For all the other light skins out there, let's stop pulling the "we're all black" card and help dark skins fight against this toxic mentality. It's disgusting. Yes, we need black unity. But we also need to discuss all of the issues that we face.

So yes, Amara Le Negra is black. She's Dominican. She's Afro-Latina. It doesn't take anything from her being a black woman. She is one of us. No, she's not delusional. No, it is not a front.

No, she can't say "she's black but her ethnicity is Latina". What type dumbass shit

Anyways, that's pretty much it for this chapter. Comment your thoughts. I also did post a video this morning about getting accepted into Howard University.

The link to my channel will be in my profile bio. Go check it out. I also need to find some time management strategies to go back to finish TBTB and maybe start new projects. How does that sound? 👍🏽 or 👎🏽 lemme know
