Miracle

When I arrived home, hatred gnawed my heart slowly again. The doctor's words played in my head over and over. It made me feel that my life is so useless, might as well end it. Before I could do anything stupid, I went to see Devi. I know she's going through something more painful than my case. And she needs her bestfriend.

Pagkapasok ko ng kwarto niya, patakbong sumalubong siya sa'kin at humagulhol. Nabibiyak 'yong puso. Gusto ko siyang sumbatan kung bakit niya itinago pati sa'kin pero hindi ko magawa dahil ayaw kong dumagdag sa bigat ng nararamdaman niya. Napahagulhol narin ako lalo na't di mawaksi sa isip ko ang kondisyon niya. Iniisip ko palang na mawawala siya, para narin akong nilagutan ng hininga sa sobrang sakit.

"Dev... sobrang sakit. I'm so sorry. Sana may magawa ako para maging okay ka. Sana pwede kong kunin sa'yo 'yang nararamdaman mo."umiiyak na sambit ko.

My statement made her sob harder. Nagyayakapan lang kami habang umiiyak sa loob ng halos sampung minuto. Eventually, our sobs dropped into silent ones.

"I'm so sorry that I have to keep it to myself. I don't want to be pitied at. I want to have friends who would willingly give me the friendship that I need without the influence of empathy. I've spent years together with Devi. We have the best memories to reminisce everytime. But at the very moment, they seemed to be insufficient. We had all the time within those years to enjoy listening to each other's crazy stories, annoying laughters and everything. Yet now, I wanted to steal everybody's time so I can spend it with her.

"I'm done with my look. It's your turn!"she cheerfully exclaimed and began putting whatever on my face.

Di niya pinansin ang sinabi ko dahil abot-tenga ang ngiti niya at pinatayo ako. Proud na proud siya sa ginawa niya sa mukha ko eh. Tsk. Hay naku, Devinna.

"Wag ka ngang bumusangot diyan! Sinisira mo ang masterpiece ko."she commented while pouting her lips.

Sabay na napatingin kami ni Dev sa kanya. Palipat-lipat ang tingin ko sa kanilang magpinsan. Abot-tenga ang ngiti ni Devi saka niya sinita ang pinsan niya.
