~Chapter 3~
My alarm clock rang loud and clear the next morning. It startled me so much that I fell out of bed. I landed on the floor with a loud thud.
My mom came running in to check on me. "Marissa are you okay?"
"Yeah Mom, I'm fine. I just... fell." I stood up untagling myself from the blankets.
"Ok sweetie, breakfast is almost ready."
The thing I love is that my mom works at a gormet restaurant, so our meals are always delicious. She gets up extra early on weekdays to cook us breakfast. Normal families have cereal and toast for breakfast in a buisy city like this. Our family, we eat gormet.
I ran downstairs and hopped on my bike. I threw my bag into the basket and kicked off. In a city like this it is hard to dodge people. Most people move out of my way though. As I was riding past Times Square I looked up at the billboards to check whats trending. This was a regular thing for me. When I looked up I was startled to see another ad for Dolce & Gabbana with Madonna and Max Schneider. This distracted me.
I bumped into someone and fell off of my bike.
"Sorry! So sorry!" I said as I picked up my bike and helped him up. He was tall with curly dark hair, It was barely visible underneath his hat and dark shades. He had on a dark coat and a ukulele was strung across his back.
"No problem. I wasn't watching where I was going it was my fault," he said before pulling his hat farther down and running off.
I hopped back onto my bike and kicked off again. He seemed familiar. I couldn't quite think of who he reminded me of though. I figured it would hit me sooner or later.
When I walked into class I heard the radio blasting. Of course it was. At a school for music, there is sure to be alot of it! Despite my delay I got to school early. So while I waited for the rest of the class, I sat in my seat and listened to the radio.
"This is his new cover of one of our favorite songs! Here is Max Schneider's cover of 'Somebody That I Used to Know'!" The radio host announced. Soon Max's beautiful voice swept through the class. I love this song, and yet somehow when he sings it, the song gets ten times better.
I sat quietly and listened until I was interrupted by Megan Jones, a pop-rock chick who sits next to me in history class. "Pretty good, isn't he?" She said.
"Yeah, he's alright." I replied.
"My sister thinks she's gonna marry him someday." She laughed.
"Don't all of our sister's think that?"
"Probably. I'm taking mine to his concert this Thursday."
"Me too. Maybe I'll see you there."
"Maybe." She turned away right as our teacher walked into class. This is gonna be a fun day. NOT!
By the time my regular classes for the day were finished, I was already sick and tired of hearing about my former friend. His name had been bouncing around this school like a rubber ball. Or like and echo in a long tunnel. It was everywhere. Being repeated over and over again. Before our music classes begin we get an hour break for lunch and whatever else we want to do.
"I have a very exciting announcement to make!" Our headmaster's voice blaired through the intercom. "We will be having a special guest at our school this Friday. He is a New York native, and quite a young success. He has acted on T.V., in the theaters, on Broadway, and modeled with Madonna. This Friday Juilliard is welcoming special guest Max Schneider to our school! That is all we have to announce for now! Have a good day!"
I struggled to hear the last part. As soon as she said Max's names the school flooded with girls' screams. Oh joy. Max is coming to my school. What will I say to him if I run into him? Will he remember me?
