~Chapter 31~

We had a good party and we all spent the night at Cymphonique's house. Everybody is friends again, Sam and I are friends, and Sam and Max are back to normal. Chris is still a little jealous of Max but that is just something we are going to have to live with. I am in my mom's car right now, driving home from the airport. Max and I flew from California to New York this morning to visit my mom and my sister.

"It's great to have you and Mary home, Max!" Mom said to Max.

"Thanks, it's nice to come visit home. I love it here," Max replied. He was sitting in the passenger seat and my mom was driving the car. I was sitting in the back next to Sarah. Just then the song 'What Makes You Beaufitful' by One Direction came on the radio. Mom had it turned down low and we could barely hear it.

"Turn it up Mom!" Sarah shouted. I have learned that since Sarah has had to treat Max like a brother instead of a superstar she is in love with, Sarah is now obsessed with One Direction. She would freak out if she knew I talked to Louis and Niall, that's why I don't plan on telling her. "I love One Direction!" Sarah yelled.

"I bet you didn't know," Max began to talk. Oh no, please don't say it! "Mary talked to One Direction," he finished. He said it.

"Oh. My. GOD! You spoke to One Direction! What are they like? Were they nice? Isn't Liam SO hot?" Sarah started asking me questions and freaking out. Thanks Max.

"I only spoke to Louis and Niall, and it was over the phone," I explained.

"Niall is my favorite! And what about Louis, did he talk about carrots?" She continued.

"What? No! Why would he- nevermind!" I rolled my eyes at her excitement. "So I take it your done obsessing over Max?"

"Yup. He is like a brother to me now, don't get me wrong I'm still a fan, but I won't go crazy like I used to!" Sarah laughed.

"That's good, one less crazy fan," Max said to her. "I love my fans but I would like to have a place I can go without being mobbed with questions."

"Yeah sorry about that," Sarah blushed.

"It's all behind us now. Who feels like going to Friendly's?" Mom asked.

"Ooh! Ooh! Me!" Max and I said at the same time. I remember during the school year when the ice cream truck didn't come around, Max and I would go to Friendly's and get ice cream. Friendly's is a little restuarant where they have an ice cream bar and really good chicken, hamburgers, and fries. Max and I would share cheese fries and a chocolate milkshake every time we went there.

"Do you guys already know what you want?" Mom asked as we pulled into the Friendly's parking lot.

"Yup!" I said, jumping out of the car as soon as it was parked. Max did the same then he picked me up and slung me over his shoulder.

"Chocolate milkshake here we come!" Max shouted running towards the entrance, leaving my mom and sister trailing behind.

"You're such a little kid!" I laughed at Max. He set me down on the floor once we were inside.

"Welcome to Friendly's what can I get you two kids today?" The lady behind the counter asked.

"One chocolate milkshake and a medium order of cheese fries," Max ordered.

"Will that be it?" The lady said.

"Yes m-" Max started to say.

"No we would like to add on our order," Mom cut him off, "I'll pay."

"Oh, no Mama Addams you don't have to do that, I was gonna pay," Max said.

"No, no, sweetie. It's my treat," Mom replied.

"Thanks," Max gave in, givving her a kiss on the cheek. He knows its pointless to argue with my mom. She always wins.

"No problem, why don't you two go find a table for the four of us," my mom told him. He nodded and we found a booth and sat down.

"I remember when we used to come here in the spring and fall," Max sighed.

"They used to decorate this place for back to school," I replied.

"Ah, school. I'm not going to college, I learn with an on-set tutor. What are you going to do? You are halfway through college. You can't just drop out, you are on a huge scholarship fund with Juilliard."

"I know, I will probably work in L.A. over the summer and go back to school in the fall. I don't know yet, I will just have to wait and see." I didn't think about this when I first got into the whole acting business.

"You better decide soon, school or acting, you can't have both."

"I know, I know," I sighed. Just then my mom and sister sat down and a few minutes later the food came. That was the end of our school conversation.

"So how have you been liking L.A.?" My mom asked.

"It's awesome, pretty much as crowded as New York though," I answered.

"Have you met any celebrities?" Sarah questioned me.

"Um, hmm. I know the whole cast of How To Rock, and I talked to Niall Horan and Louis Tomlinson. I have pretty much stuck with our cast, haven't really met anyone else," I shrugged my shoulders.

"Well I have met the two best celebrities in the world!" Sarah smiled.

"And who's that?" Max asked.

"You two!" Sarah laughed. I smiled, I guess I haven't really though about that. I keep seeing myself as a normal 20 year old girl, not as this celebrity the rest of the world sees me as. I guess that's what it is like to be famous.

"Thanks Sarah!" I told her, reaching over the table to give her a hug.

"It's true. You guys are awesome. My whole school is talking about you guys. Ever since you became famous my popularity levels have risen by so much!" Sarah exclaimed. Well I'm glad to see she was benefitting from all the attention.

"Look at the time! It's already afternoon! We best be heading home," Mom said scooting out of the booth. We all did the same and walked out to the car, stopping at the register to pay on the way out. On the ride home Max sat in the back with Sarah and I sat up front with Mom.

When we pulled up to the appartment building Max and I hopped out first. I was starting to make my way to the stairs but Max grabbed my hand and stopped me. "What?" I asked him, giving him a questioning look.

"I have been thinking, we are officially a couple, yet we haven't had an official first date," Max said, my hand still in his.

"So what place do you plan on taking me to?" I asked him.

"Correction, what places," Max grinned.

I gave him a questioning look as he released my hand and began to walk away from the appartment building. He turned around when he realised I wasn't following him. "Come on. This is going to be the best day of your life."
