~Chapter 12~

"I thought you were kidding when you said you hung my poster above your bed!" Max laughed pointing to the poster he gave me that was pinned to the wall above my bed.

"Oh so your zillions of fans can do it but I can't?" I replied sarcastically.

"Well your not my normal fan," he smiled my favorite smile. I couldn't help but smile too.

"Max I'm your biggest fan!"

"Even if I do this?" he asked.

"Do what?" I was confused.

He cleared his throat then began to talk like Elmo. "Hi Mary! This is Elmo. Max is crazy about you. You know that right?"

I started laughing. He used to do that years ago. It always made me laugh! "Well Elmo, let Max know the feeling is mutual."

He started laughing, but it was still in his Elmo voice so it sounded hillarious. He started cracking up laughing and I did too.

"Max, you're crazy!" I punched him playfully in the arm.

Just then I noticed my mom standing by the door to my bathroom. Max locked the main door to my room, but my bathroom has a door to the main part of the appartment and one to my room. Aparently my mom came in that way.

"Hey Mama Addams!" Max said in his Elmo voice. He always used to call my mom that when we were little.

My mom laughed a little before responding. "Hello Maxwell. Are you going to be spending the night? You can stay in the guest room if you want."

"Lemme ask my mom and I'll get back to you, thanks!" Max smiled politely, it wasn't my favorite smile but it was still a dazzling one. I watched as he sent a text to his mom. Within a minute she replied. "My mom's cool with it. Thanks Mama Addams!"

"No problem. Anytime Maxwell," my mom waved to us then unlocked my bedroom door and walked out that way, closing it behind her. Mom never called him Max. He was always Maxwell to her.

Max was sitting on the edge of my bed and I was sitting in the chair at my desk. Max's phone buzzed. I watched as his smile faded when he read it.

"What?" I asked, confused.

"Go to starsighting.com," he commanded me. I quickly turned around to face my desk. I opened up the internet browser on my computer and typed in the address he gave me.

The sight popped up and on the homepage I saw two different pictures and an article under a blinking heading.

'Max & The Mystery Girl: A Match Made in Heaven? Or Love on the Rocks?'

"That's not good," I said before continuing down the page. There were two pictures; one of our fake kiss, and one of our argument at the coffee shop. I knew someone was following us. That's what that feeling was!

I read the article out loud to Max. "Today we were out star sighting and we spotted what may be Hollywood's hottest new couple. Max Schneider and Mystery Girl were out for coffee in New York City when their relationship took a turn. Is there hope for Max and Mystery Girl? Let us know by voting in the poll below!"

Max started to run his hand through his hair frustrated. "I don't know what to do Mary. I'm sorry."

"Max, it's not your fault. There's nothing you can do about it," I walked over and sat down beside him on the edge of my bed.

"I wish there was," he sighed. Just then his phone buzzed. As he read it, he raised one eyebrow, pondering what was being said.

"What does it say?" I asked.

"Well, I have been talking to my manager and publicist a lot today. We might have come up with something to stop this. If you want."

"What is it?"

"Tiger Beat made a call to my publicist to ask if they could do an interview with us. They made a deal not to post anything without our approval. If we do an interview, we can tell them there is nothing between us and kill the rumors."

"But is there something between us?" I asked and blushed, looking down.

"I don't know what is with us these days," he replied.

"Max?"

"Yeah?"

"If there were to be something between us, what would we do?"

"We would tell them."

"What good would that do? Just make more people hate me."

"Mary, haters gonna hate!" he shrugged his shoulders. "Mary is there something between us?"

I looked up at him. Right into his chocolate brown eyes. "You tell me."

He leaned in and kissed me. Right then I knew it. Whether we admit it or not. There was something between us.

"I'll take that as a yes," I blushed again.

He flashed me a brilliant smile. My smile. "So are we doing the interview?"

"Yep!"
