~Chapter 36~
"Why did we have to stop at Target again?" Max asked me as I grabbed a notebook off of the shelf and made my way to the register, grabbing a pack of pre-sharpened pencils on the way.
"I have a song idea in my head. I don't want to forget it, I need to write it down!" I replied.
"Why can't you write it on your hand?" He complained as we were waiting on the checkout line.
"A full song? On my hand?" I questioned.
"Okay that makes some sense. How long are we going to be waiting on this line? We have places to be!" Max tapped his foot impatiently.
"Quit it! You're acting like a five year old we are almost at the front of the line!" I playfully hit him in the arm.
"Ooh! They have cake pops! Can I have one?" he asked, jumping up and down.
"Like I said, five year old," I rolled my eyes.
"I'm just messing with you. Scoot up, it's our turn at the register!" He laughed, moving ahead of me up to the register. He payed for it and handed me the bag. I would have offered to pay for it myself but I knew he would only say no, so I didn't waste my breath. We headed out and began to walk. I started writing my song.

"So where to next?" I asked Max, as I scribbled the last of the song lyrics into my new notebook.
"Do I even need to tell you it's a surprise?" He asked.
"Sorry. I forgot. Secrets, secrets, always secrets," I mumbled the last part.
"So we have some time to kill. Tell me something about you," Max said, taking my hand.
"Like what? You have known me almost my whole life there's nothing you don't know. You tell me something about me."
"Okay. You hate ketchup on your fries. You love the way birds sing. You wont eat any other cheese than cheddar. You hate the color pink. You don't like dogs because they scare you. You have always wished you could fly. And you are the most gorgeous girl I have ever seen," he listed things about me. I blushed at the last thing. Other than the last thing, everything he said about me was true. "Tell me something about me."
"Well, you love the color purple. You can talk like elmo. Your favorite animal is a monkey. You call everybody 'baby'. You love making cover videos. You love to hike, camp and explore the outdoors. You're a major animal lover. You're ukulele is your most prized possession. You love life and everybody around you. You are amazing in everysingle way," I smiled.
"Thanks baby, you're my best friend. You left that out," he laughed.
"You left it out of mine too. I figured this speaks for itself," I said, gesturing to our intertwined hands.
"Oh come on, I could be holding hands with anybody. It doesn't mean they are my best friend," he replied.
"Okay then," I smiled, and looked around us. I stopped when I saw a girl about our age, maybe a little younger. "I dare you to go introduce yourself, and hold that girls hand," I told him, pointing to the girl. She was sitting at a table outside a cafe reading a book.
"Fine," he shrugged. He walked over to her.
"Hi, I'm Max nice to meet you," he said to the girl, taking her hand.
"Oh my gosh! You're him! Can I have your autograph?" The girl asked freaking out and handing him a napkin and a pen off the table.
"Sure," he laughed, signing the napkin. "Great to meet you!" He got up and walked back to join me, taking my hand.
"That was awkward," he whispered to me.
I laughed and replied, "So now you see that you won't be holding friends with just anybody."
"Yup, sorry Mary. You were right," he admitted.
"I always am," I said, somewhat smugly.
"We're here," he stopped. I looked around us. We were at the fountain across from our bench in Central Park.
