~Chapter 32~

When we got to the corner of the sidewalk infront of our building Max sat down and patted the ground next to him. "What are you doing?" I asked walking over to where he was but not sitting.

"Well, it's Friday. About, eh, 3:00," He replied standing up and joining me. Just then the ice cream truck  pulled up and came to a stop infront of us. It was the same ice cream truck that used to come around when we were little, it's colors were faded and the paint was beginning to peel a little. I could still tell it was the same truck even through it's tragic condition.

"One Two-Ball Screw Ball and  one Fudge Bar please," Max told the man in the truck.

"Aww Max!" I sighed and wrapped my arms around his neck pulling him into a hug. He gave me a quick kiss on the cheek then pulled away to recieve our order and pay the man. He pulled a five dollar bill out of his pocket and handed it to the man in exchange for the ice creams. Max handed me mine and opened his. I opened mine then linked my arm through his.

"Thank you!" I smiled.

"No problem. Anything for you. And that was just stop one on our date!" Max said enthusiasticly and he began to lead us to our next destination.

"So were you doing during those four years we didn't speak?" I asked him.

"Going to the KCA's, filming, shopping, singing, modeling, acting, getting mobbed by fans, not much," he shrugged. "What about you?"

"Not much! You have been living your dream! I have been finishing school and hoping that I would soon escape this city," I replied.

"Well you have escaped."

"Look where we are right now."

"I mean, not now, but you are living your dream now."

"Not all of it," I mumbled under my breath. I had the strangest dream last night. In the dream I was in a completely dark room. Black was all I could see. But then I turned around and Max was right there. I opened my mouth to say something to him, but nothing came out. Then he got down on one knee and pulled out a ring. 'Mary will you marry me?' is what he said. I couldn't speak so I nodded yes and he stood up and kissed me. As soon as he pulled away from the kiss the darkness around me and the endless black dissapeared. I found that we were in central park, on our bench.

"Mary are you alright?" Max asked. I snapped back to reality, realizing I zoned out thinking about the dream.

"Yeah I'm fine," I answered as cheerily as I could so he wouldn't get suspicious.

"Good. Because we are at the next location," Max responded with a smile, completely oblivious to my fake cheer.

"Where are we?" I asked, looking around.

"Broadway," he replied. I looked up and saw the flashing lights of a broadway sign above us. "Come on!" He laughed pulling me through the large doors and into the empty theatre. He kept pulling me then he stopped, covered my eyes, and said "Close your eyes!"

"What are you doing?" I asked.

"Shh, just trust me. Now step up," Max told me. I did as he said and found we were walking up a set of steps. He stopped me at the top and walked me forwards a little bit. He removed his hand and said "Open your eyes."

I opened my eyes and found that we were center stage, in the theatre Max performed in when he was on Broadway. "Woah," I gasped, looking at the rows and rows of empty seats.

"I know right. Imagine it when there are people filling every seat, that's what it was like when I was performing," he said.

"Wow," was all I could say.

"But it's your turn now," Max smiled.

"Wha-what do you mean?" I asked, stuttering.

"Sing your song. Any song."

"I don't know."

"Sing what's on your mind," Max suggested. What's on my mind. All that's on my mind is Max. Then I thought of it. I wrote a song a few years ago, when Max had just left me. I didn't know who it was about, but the lyrics just came to me when I was writing. It finally clicked. This song was about Max, my crazy, fun-loving Max.

"I got a song," I told him.

"Take the stage Mary, it's your turn now," Max said, kissing me on the cheek and walking down to sit in the front row of the theatre.

"Okay," I took a deep breath. I know it's just Max, but just this huge menacing empty theatre was making me nervous. I closed my eyes and began to sing.

"I'd never gone with the wind
Just let it flow
Let it take me where it wants to go to
You open the door
There's so much more
I've never seen it before
I was trying to fly
But I couldn't find wings
But you came along and you changed everything

You lift my feet off the ground
You spin me around
You make me crazier, crazier
Feels like I'm falling and I am lost in your eyes
You make me crazier, crazier, crazier

I've watched from a distance as you made life your own
Every sky was your own kind of blue
And I wanted to know how that would feel
And you made it so real
You showed me something that I couldn't see
You opened my eyes
And you made me believe

You lift my feet off the ground
You spin me around
You make me crazier, crazier
Feels like I'm falling and I am lost in your eyes
You make me crazier, crazier, crazier

Baby you showed me what living is for
I don't wanna hide anymore
Oh oh

You lift my feet off the ground
You spin me around
You make me crazier, crazier
Feels like I'm fallin' and I am lost in your eyes
You make me crazier, crazier, crazier
Crazier, crazier, crazier!"

I opened my eyes to find Max sitting there blushing red. He knew the song was about him. This made me blush too. He got out of his seat, jumped up onto the stage and walked up to me.

"That was beautiful," he smiled.

"Th-" I started to thank him but he swung me into his arms and kissed me passionately. As we pulled away I finished what I was about to say earlier, "Thanks," I sighed. Of course because of the timing it was weird and it seemed as if I was thanking him for kissing me. He chuckled and I laughed a little, kind of embarrassed.

"Come on. Our date isn't over yet!" Max smiled and grabbed my hand. We walked off stage and out of the theatre. "It gets better!" He assured me. As we walk I can't help but think to myself that I am the luckiest girl alive. As long as I have Max, I always will be.
