~Chapter 25~
"Sweetie I am so proud of you. I am going to miss you terribly though," Mom sighed, running her hands through my hair. We were at the airport and I was saying my goodbyes to my mom.
"I'm going to miss you too Mom. I'll be back for my first visit in two weeks. I promise," I assured her.
"Are you sure everything is settled? Do you have a place to stay?" She asked, wringing her hands nervously.
"Yeah I'm staying with Max, everything is fine," I gave her a big hug.
"Okay baby. I love you. Stay safe and goodluck!" I saw her crying as she let go of my hand and took a step back. "My little baby is up and gone."
I felt tears come to my eyes and I wiped them away with the back of my hand. "I'm not gone Mama, I will be back soon. And I'll call you everynight!" I choked back tears. I don't know why it was so hard for me to leave my mother. I felt as if it was her who was leaving me.
"Promise?"
"Promise," I said. We hugged one more time before we turned away and I walked to my boarding gate. I soon had to stop to wipe the tears from my eyes and when I was sure they were dry I continued walking.
After I cleared security I walked over and took a seat infront of the boarding area.
"Marissa Addams!" I heard a little girl exclaim. I looked over to where she was and all of the sudden I was met by a rush of paparazzi, fans, and reporters.
"Ms. Addams what is it like to be part of the How To Rock cast?" I reporter asked pointing a microphone towards me.
"Ms. Addams are you really dating Max or is it all a publicity stunt?" Another reporter asked.
"Ms. Addams where do you get your fabulous clothes?" Yet another asked.
"Umm... umm... um..." I stuttered. The cameras' flashes were blinding me and people were shouting my name and asking questions from all over.
"Okay that is enough!" I heard a male voice yell. I looked over as someone cut through the crowd surrounding me.
"Max?" I exclaimed even though it came out sounding like a question. Max rushed over and swooped me into his arms. I returned the hug and Max then turned to the crowd.
"Marissa is not open to any interviews right now. We need the press to leave before we call security!" Max commanded. The crowd began to scatter and soon all that was left was a few little girls and their parents with pens and paper.
"Can I have your autographs?" One of the little girls asked Max and I shyly.
"Sure sweetie what's your name?" I asked her while signing my name and a short note on her sheet of paper. I handed it to Max and he signed it as well. Soon we were signing autographs here and there. When the crowd finally cleared we sat back down by my suitcase.
"Max what are you doing here? I thought you were in L.A.?" I asked him, very confused.
"I grabbed a flight back to New York so that I would be with you when you fly to L.A. and you wouldn't be alone. I was gonna surprise you," Max explained
"You did surprise me! Thanks!" I smiled and kissed him on the cheek. "And thanks for helping with the press. It really got out of hand. They were all asking questions and sticking microphones in my face!"
"I warned you about this a long time ago, Mary. Sometimes the press can go crazy," he sighed and held my hand in his. He gave it a squeeze and I rested my head on his shoulder. Right as we had just gotten comfortable we heard a voice come over the intercom.
"We are now boarding flight 3650 to LAX," the voice said. We walked up to the counter infront of the door to the loading dock for the plane. The lady at the counter scanned our boarding passes and we continued through. We had first class tickets and we took our seat in the very front.
"Michael how far back are our seats?" an elderly lady asked her husband as they made their way to the regular section.
"We are in the very back dear," the man beside her replied then let out a hacking cough.
"My back is hurting I don't know if I can walk through this crowded isle like this!" The lady complained, rubbing her lower back.
"I'm sorry Margaret I couldn't afford better seats," the man sighed then sneezed. I felt horrible for this older couple. They looked as if they were in their early eighties. Poor people. Then an idea hit me.
"Um, excuse me ma'am?" I said to the old lady who's name I assumed was Margaret.
"Yes deary?" Margaret replied.
"We wouldn't mind switching seats with you guys if it will help," I looked at Max while saying this, not sure what his thoughts about this would be. He looked me in the eyes and nodded to show he approved.
"Oh sweetie we don't mean to cause you guys trouble! I'm sure you spent a lot of money on these seats," the old man named Michael answered.
"It's no trouble, if you want them their yours," Max said gesturing to the seats.
"Oh you kids are too kind! Thank you so much!" Margaret said shaking my hand and patting Max on the back.
"No problem, our plessure!" I said as Max and I stood up and let them sit where they were.
"Our seats are 23 B and C, thank you so much!" Michael told us.
"No problem, thank you," I replied as Max pulled my suitcase out of his bag and we began to walk back to their old seat.
"And one more thing deary!" Margaret called to us. We stopped short and turned around. "You make an adorable couple! Treat her well sonny!"
I looked down and blushed. Max laughed and said, "Thanks, I will!"
I took Max's hand and we walked down to our new seats. Max let me have the window seat. I slid in and looked out the window. It was a rather rainy day today. A cold rainy day in New York City. Not my favorite thing. Actually, my least favorite thing. It's so sad and depressing, I hate the cold rain.
"What's wrong?" Max asked me, taking his seat beside me. "You're making faces at the window. Are you okay?"
I laughed and replied "Yeah sorry, I just hate rain!" Just then I got this huge chill. I crossed my arms over my chest, trying to keep warm.
"You sure your okay?" Max questioned me.
"Yeah just cold," I shivered.
"I can take care of that," Max said putting his arm around me. I put up the arm rest between us and moved in closer to him to keep warm. He did the same and pulled me into him.
Just then a girl who looked maybe a few years younger than us sat down in the seat beside Max. I was wondering about that. Since we have seats B and C I was wondering who would sit in seat A. The girl threw her bags into the overhead compartment and plopped down in seat A. She pulled out a copy of Tiger Beat and began to flip through it. I elbowed Max and pointed to the magazine in her hands. He looked at it and smiled. There was a picture of Max and I holding hands and walking through central park together. It was so awesome that they made Max and I the main cover story.
"That was a fun day," Max sighed.
"Yeah, we were drenched by the end of the interview!" I laughed remembering how immature we were being. I leaned my head against his chest and decided to try to get some sleep.
Just then the girl looked up from her magazine at us. She made a shocked face. She looked down at her magazine then back up at us. "OMG you guys are Marissa Addams and Max Schneider!" She screamed.
All of the sudden we were mobbed by people asking for autographs. There goes any chance of me sleeping.
