~Chapter 37~

"Do you want to hear my song?" I asked Max, pulling my guitar out of my bag. I also pulled out my notebook and flipped to the page.

"Sure, whats it called?" Max asked me.

I put the strap of the guitar on and readied my fingers for the first note. "Love Story," I told him. I saw him smile and I turned my gaze down to my notebook. I started playing the intro and soon began to sing.

"We were both young when I first saw you.

I close my eyes and the flashback starts:

I'm standing there on a balcony in summer air.

See the lights, see the party, the ball gowns.

See you make your way through the crowd

And say, "Hello,"

Little did I know...

That you were Romeo, you were throwing pebbles,

And my daddy said, "Stay away from Juliet"

And I was crying on the staircase

Begging you, "Please don't go"

And I said...

Romeo, take me somewhere we can be alone.

I'll be waiting; all that's left to do is run.

You'll be the prince and I'll be the princess,

It's a love story, baby, just say, "Yes".

So I sneak out to the garden to see you.

We keep quiet 'cause we're dead if they knew

So close your eyes... escape this town for a little while.

Oh, oh.

'cause you were Romeo - I was a scarlet letter,

And my daddy said, "Stay away from Juliet"

But you were everything to me,

I was begging you, "Please don't go"

And I said...

Romeo, take me somewhere we can be alone.

I'll be waiting; all that's left to do is run.

You'll be the prince and I'll be the princess.

It's a love story, baby, just say, "Yes".

Romeo, save me, they're trying to tell me how to feel.

This love is difficult but it's real.

Don't be afraid, we'll make it out of this mess.

It's a love story, baby, just say, "Yes".

Oh, oh.

I got tired of waiting

Wondering if you were ever coming around.

My faith in you was fading

When I met you on the outskirts of town.

And I said...

Romeo, save me, I've been feeling so alone.

I keep waiting for you but you never come.

Is this in my head? I don't know what to think.

He knelt to the ground and pulled out a ring and said...

Marry me, Juliet, you'll never have to be alone.

I love you, and that's all I really know.

I talked to your dad ‒ go pick out a white dress

It's a love story, baby, just say, "Yes".

Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh.

'cause we were both young when I first saw you!"

I finished the song and looked up to meet Max's gaze.

"Do you like it?" I asked nervously.

"I love it," he smiled my favorite smile and took my hand. We sat there staring into each other's eyes, unspoken communication between us. I could stay there and stare all day, but unfortunately it was starting to grow dark.

"I love you Juliet," Max said to me, standing up and helping me put away my guitar.

"I love you too Romeo," I smiled, cupping my hands around his face. He leaned in and kissed me. It was a slow passionate kiss. I blushed and looked down as we pulled away.

"You look cute when you blush," Max told me. I smiled and he pulled me in for another kiss. It was him who blushed this time when we pulled away.

"Come on Romeo, we need to get home," I sighed.

"Why can't we stay here?" He asked.

"Why would you want to stay here?"

"Because it's my favorite place in the world."

"And that is because?"

"It is our bench. Our park. Our city," he smiled.

"Well, when you put it that way- maybe we can stay a little longer," I shrugged.

"Of course we can. We have nowhere else to be."

"Yes we do."

"Where is that?"

"Home."

"They say home is where the heart is," he said. I gave him a questioning look, raising one eyebrow.

"Wherever you are, that is where my heart is. That is where my life is. Where my home is," Max sighed. Aww! My hand went up to my mouth to prevent me from saying 'aww' out loud.

"You're so sweet Max," I smiled. He smiled too, it was my favorite smile. Everything about him is my favorite. He is my favorite person in the world. I love him with all my heart.

"I try. It's hard to keep up with the most amazing woman in the world," He replied, twirling one of my strands of hair around his finger. He let go of it and it popped back in place, forming a perfect curl.

"Aww!" I sighed, my hand going up to my mouth too late. It escaped.

He chuckled. "I love you Mary," he smiled.

"I love you too Max," I replied, leaning in. Our lips connected, and sparks flew. I truly do love him. As long as we are together I will love him. Even when we are appart I will love him. And as long as we are together my life will be a story. Not just a love story. But the story, of Max and I.
